ARDEN: Independence Day Celebration at Lake Julian @ Lake Julian Park | Arden | North Carolina | United States

Buncombe County Parks & Recreation’s annual Independence Day celebration is returning to Lake Julian Park on Friday, July 4. Buncombe County residents, families, friends, and neighbors are invited to experience the dazzling firework show on lawn chairs and blankets. The fireworks are scheduled to begin just after dark, around 9:15 p.m.

Both the main side of the park, located at 37 Lake Julian Road, and the back side of the park, located at 56 Fisherman’s Trail, will be open regular hours, beginning at 8 a.m. Visitors are encouraged to come early to enjoy a full day of fun. Food trucks will be on site from 2 to 9 p.m., and the Fuzzy Peppers will take the stage starting at 4 p.m.

Shelters are first come, first served – but visitors are encouraged to share the space.

The Fourth of July is also North Carolina’s annual free fishing day, so residents and non-residents can fish in all public waters without needing a license. However, all other fishing regulations (including bait and tackle restrictions, length limits, and daily possession) still apply.

Boat launching will be available at the park, and daily or year-round launch permits can be purchased at the Lake Julian Park Office. Paddle boat rentals are also available. However, all boats must be off the water by 8 p.m.

The main side of the park will be closed to most vehicle traffic. Vehicles with handicapped placards and vehicles with boats for launching on the lake will be provided access. Visitors are encouraged to park at William W. Estes Elementary and take the complimentary shuttle to the park. The shuttle will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Estes Elementary is located at 275 Overlook Road, Asheville.
