The Christine W. Avery Learning Center invites students, families, and community members to experience the energy and tradition of HBCU marching bands at our Music Is Life Marching Band Day.

We’re excited to welcome two incredible North Carolina HBCU bands:
  • 🎶 Shaw University – Platinum Sound Marching Band
  • 🎶 Johnson C. Smith University – International Institution of Sound (IIS)
Students are encouraged to bring their own instruments (drums will be provided) and be part of an unforgettable day of music, culture, and learning.

This event is open to the public, so come out and celebrate the power of music with us!
