If you’re looking for a spiritual option to summer camp, there are a LOT of churches in our area hosting Vacation Bible Schools, this summer! Not all churches have announced their schedule, so our calendar isn’t complete just yet, but it’s filling up fast. The majority of them are FREE (but, donations are gladly accepted)!

Canton Parks & Recreation … The goal of Canton Summer Camp is to provide a fun and safe place where kids will spend all summer outside doing crafts, playing games, and other FUN things! Each group will be separated by the grade they are going into in the fall. Each week will have different themes with coordinating activities. Canton Summer Camp will be focused on outdoor fun and community engagement! Parents must attend one of the scheduled Parents Meetings at Canton Town Hall to meet with organizers and register for camps.

Mills River Parks & Recreation …Our Summer camps are designed for students to have fun while still focusing on skill refinement. We break tennis down into the fundamental skills to help the player through fun drills and games. Players learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys and serves throughout the program. In addition to learning a love for tennis, athletes will learn the rules and etiquette that make tennis such an exciting game to play. Waynesville Parks & Recreation … Get ready for a summer packed with exciting outdoor adventures, creative indoor activities, and endless fun with friends! From games and crafts to exploring the great outdoors, Basecamp 2025 is the place to be! Parents must attend a Summer Base Camp Informational Meeting in order to receive information regarding summer camp options and Counselor in Training opportunities. Meetings are scheduled for Feb 17th-21st at 6:00pm. Summer camp payment is due March 15th, 2025 8:00–11:00 AM, and this is the ONLY time payments will be taken, and the ONLY way to guarantee a spot—no early payments allowed to keep things fair! The Asheville Mountain Kitchen … Hands On Cooking and Baking Summer Camps with Ofri Gilan. This is a hands-on camp exploring comfort foods, using seasonal ingredients and fresh vegetables from the garden. The final menu will be determined closer to the camp and will accommodate the participants’ dietary preferences, as well as garden bounty. Asheville Music Academy … Rock Academy and Music Academy Summer Camps are the perfect place for young musicians who want the coolest of summer camp experiences to meet and play with others. Students spend one week, in a hands-on atmosphere, at our state-of-the-art Rock Academy rehearsal space, perfecting their performance skills as individuals and most importantly, as a band. Asheville Youth Rowing … Asheville Youth Rowing Association is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public corporation dedicated to promoting the sport of rowing among teenagers between the ages of 11 and 18 years as a means of instilling discipline, teaching team work, attaining physical fitness, and teaching the sport of rowing in order to help young people gain admission to college and/or other educational efforts, obtain scholarships for educational efforts and/or to succeed in a life endeavor. ABYSA’s FUNdamental Soccer Camp offers a games-centered teaching approach to soccer education, creating an exciting and entertaining environment designed to boost player learning.  The FUNdamentals teaching method is designed to enrich players’ passion for soccer while teaching them the proper techniques for future soccer success. Campers will be placed in proper age groups and skill levels to ensure all players benefit from developmentally appropriate activities, teaching, and competition. This is a super fun climbing program for first-time climbers and younger climbers who are still exploring the sport. Each day begins with a fun-filled morning of climbing exercises and games. For the first four days climbing skills will be taught and practiced and then the second half of the day will be spent at another activity downtown; either making pottery, playing in the park, or visiting AMOS. The final day of this camp is spent outdoors on real rock. Daily snacks and transportation to the rock site are provided. Daily lesson plans are developed and created for the group. This is a very fun introduction to rock climbing.

Experiential learning through Cartography, Math, Language Arts and Storytelling all come into play with this RPG, and kids exercise their social skills in group decision making and strategic thinking. Our facilitators aim to infuse content with learning opportunities in nature studies and ecocentric thought. Excursions to the woods around the homestead lend themselves to the storytelling value of the game and there will be time for free play/lunch/snack breaks and visits with the farm animals of FELC. Healthy snacks are provided but send a bag lunch. Asheville area parents! This guide to spring break camps is a WORKING LIST, and is NOT complete. We felt is was important to release as soon as possible since some camps released their schedules early, with discounts that you can only take advantage of before a set deadline. Other camps have not released their dates yet, and will announce their schedules in the coming weeks. If you see a “NOT ANNOUNCED YET” next to “2019 DATES”, the information you see is from their 2018 season, and will be updated to 2019 as soon as they make an announcement with that information. ABYSA’s FUNdamental Soccer Camp offers a games-centered teaching approach to soccer education, creating an exciting and entertaining environment designed to boost player learning.  The FUNdamentals teaching method is designed to enrich players’ passion for soccer while teaching them the proper techniques for future soccer success. Campers will be placed in proper age groups and skill levels to ensure all players benefit from developmentally appropriate activities, teaching, and competition. The camp will employ games designed to build technical foundations for dribbling, passing, receiving, shielding, and shooting. Kolo Bike Park is a great way for young riders to build confidence and skill in a controlled environment. Indoor activities such as bicycle movies and games on bad weather days. The camp is for kids age 8-15 years who can comfortably ride a two-wheel bicycle. Spring Break RPG camp! Kids 9 and older are invited to spend the day on a 2 acre family homestead “Adventuring” via the Roleplaying Game (RPG) Pathfinder (the newest evolution of legendary RPG Dungeons & Dragons). We are located 2 miles from the intersection of Patton and Haywood in West Asheville. We’ll let their imaginations run wild while they do! Experiential learning through Cartography, Math, Language Arts and Storytelling all come into play with this RPG, and kids exercise their social skills in group decision making and strategic thinking. Our facilitators aim to infuse content with learning opportunities in nature studies and ecocentric thought. Excursions to the woods around the homestead lend themselves to the storytelling value of the game and there will be time for free play/lunch/snack breaks and visits with the farm animals of FELC. Healthy snacks are provided but send a bag lunch.
