ASHEVILLE PARKS & RECREATION | The Asheville Parks & Recreation Department maintains 54 public parks, 6 miles of greenways, 11 community centers, numerous programs for youth, seniors and outdoor enthusiasts, a comprehensive athletics program, and many facilities that provide resources for a range of activities, including birthday parties.

• PARK SHELTERS | Shelter Reservations must be made a minimum of 4 days in advance, and can be made up to 90 days prior to the requested rental date. Cancellations must be received in writing at least five (5) business days in advance of the reservation date in order to receive a full refund. Parks with shelters / pavilions available for rent include Carrier Park, French Broad River Park, Haw Creek Park , Malvern Hills Park, Murphy-Oakley Park, Recreation Park, West Asheville Park, Walton Street Park, and Weaver Park. | WEBPAGE HERE

BUNCOMBE COUNTY RECREATION SERVICES | Buncombe County Recreation Services oversees several outdoor pools and parks with covered recreation shelters available for rent.

• PARK PAVILIONS | Buncombe County sponsored events and programs have priority use over private individuals or groups. All other picnic shelter rentals will be granted on a first come first served basis. | WEBPAGE HERE

WOODFIN PARKS & RECREATION | The Woodfin Parks & Recreation Department oversees the operations and development of the Woodfin Park System. The Woodfin Park System is comprised presently of three public parks as well as the Woodfin Community Center and Ballfields. | WEBPAGE HERE

• WOODFIN COMMUNITY CENTER | The Woodfin Community Center contains a full kitchen, a small stage, seating and tables for more than 200 guests as well as restroom facilities. The Woodfin Community Center is available for rent by the day. In order to inspect or make arrangements to rent the facility please call Town Hall.

• WOODFIN RIVER PARK | Woodfin River Parks open fields provide a great place to toss a Frisbee or play a game of tag while the gazebo and shade covered benches provide a great place to watch the river roll by or read a good book.The Woodfin River Park contains a picnic shelter which can be rented in 3 hour blocks through the Town Hall.

• ROY POPE MEMORIAL PARK | The Roy Pope Memorial Park is home to Avery’s Little Corner a magnificent play area with dragons, castles, swings and a climbing web. Aside from its playground, the Roy Pope Memorial Park houses a covered picnic shelter which can be rented in three hour blocks through Town Hall.

• POOLS | Pool Parties can be scheduled through the office for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights while the pool is open. Pool Parties are from 6:15-8:15 PM June through August (August weekday Parties). Call the office to reserve your date.

WAYNESVILLE PARKS & RECREATION

HAYWOOD COUNTY RECREATION & PARKS | Park facilities are free to use on a first-come, first-served basis unless reserved. Reservations include the pavilion only unless specified otherwise and do not include the entire park. The restrooms, water fountains and pathway in front of the pavilion are open to all park users and may not be blocked. Reservation schedules will be posted bi-weekly on the enclosed bulletin board located in the pavilion. Park facilities may not be used or rented for personal profit or for private lessons.

• ALLENS CREEK PARK | Allens Creek Park is the County’s first developed park. Allens Creek Park includes three large multipurpose fields, a playground, walking path, concession and restroom facility with a beautiful pavilion, available for rent. | WEBPAGE HERE

• FLAT ROCK PARK has two rentable spaces on the property: one picnic shelter and one gazebo. The gazebo, located in the back of the property, has 6 round tables with 6 seats each, 2 rectangular tables (each is 7 feet long), electrical outlets and a charcoal grill. The picnic shelter, located next to the playground, has 2 large grills, 14 tables (each 7 feet long), electrical outlets, lights with a timer and a standing water pump. | WEBPAGE HERE

• BILL MOORE COMMUNITY PARK | In January of 2018, Fletcher Town Council honored former Mayor Bill Moore, by renaming Fletcher Community Park, Bill Moore Community Park. Bill Moore Community Park is recognized as one of the best family parks in Western North Carolina.  Park patrons have access to miles of scenic walking trails, Cane Creek, and countless other amenities. The Steelcase Picnic Shelter is available for rent for parties. You can reserve the shelter in person at Fletcher Town Hall (300 Old Cane Creek Rd.), Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.  However, please note that all reservations made in person must also be added to the online registration site so please be prepared to go through the process. Are you looking for a great place to host your next birthday party? With two indoor and an outdoor space available for your function, SMCC is the place to be. The SMCC has 3 areas available for rent. You may rent one, two or all three areas. Each area requires a 4 hour minimum reservation and time frames over that are rented at $25 per hour up to 6 hours. If you want 7 to 8 hours, then it is required to rent another 4 hour block of time. A discount is given if you choose to rent 2 or more areas.

WEAVERVILLE PARKS & RECREATION | The Town of Weaverville maintains two public parks within its jurisdiction: Main Street Nature Park, and Lake Louise Park, which has picnic shelters. | WEBPAGE HERE

• LAKE LOUISE PARK | Lake Louise encompasses approximately 15.5 acres with a more than five-acre, man-made lake. The park also features playground facilities, outdoor exercise equipment, picnic shelters, a walking track, grills and fishing. Without a designated town recreation department, both parks rely heavily on the hard work provided by volunteers and Town of Weaverville employees, therefor the picnic shelter is available on a first come, first served basis.

Ignite your child’s imagination with a Zaniac STEAM Birthday Party! Your K-8th grade child will have a blast with friends in our high-tech environment! Kids can celebrate and play together with a focus on STEAM activities! Celebrate with Minecraft Magic, Blast Off to Space, or Build Your Own STEAM Quest Birthday Party with your child’s favorite Zaniac Programs! Your designated party host is also an Instructor at Zaniac and will engage your child and up to 20 friends! We provide the STEAM activities, paper invites and envelopes, balloons for party guests to take home, paper plates, tablecloth, napkins and utensils. Large Groups = Special Rates. We can handle groups of any size. Group rates start at 15 or more people, and we have special rates for church groups, school groups, boy and girl scout troops and Jamaican bobsled teams. At Zen Tubing, we have the facility to host all kinds of events or parties. The downtown location is a lazy river float through the unique river arts district of downtown Asheville. Trips start at carrier park and on your way downstream, you will float past White Duck Taco, New Belgium Brewery and The Wedge Brewery. There are many parks along the way with great picnicking opportunities. The South location is a lazy river float that offers many places to go swimming as well as islands to stop and have some private time. This location also offers a riverside picnic area and is a great location for private parties. Even though the river is calm, we can’t allow anyone younger than 4 years old. Sorry!

THE NORTH CAROLINA ARBORETUM … We have unfortunately stopped doing birthday parties. Due to staffing limitations and focusing on expanding our STEM programs, we’ve discontinued them. 

OTHER PLACES TO CONSIDER

CHURCHES! Ask your family church if you can host it in their rec room! Most churches have rec rooms, and if you’re an active member of that church, may let you use it for a party! 

RESTAURANTS! Most can accommodate a large party if you call ahead, and allow you to bring your own cake. As long as you’re not running around and disturbing the other diners, restaurants are ideal places for a get together. Please tip your servers well! 

APARTMENT COMPLEX CLUBHOUSES! Many apartment complexes have clubhouses. If you have friends that live in an apartment complex, they may be able to reserve the clubhouse for you.

HOTELS! Book a room with them, and they’ll likely let you use the conference room, or allow you to invite a few friends to play at the pool.

PARKS! Unless you need the pavilion/picnic shelter, you can set up on a picnic table with no reservation required, or lay down some blankets and have a picnic. Take some kites or pick a park with a stream running through it and bring along some sand toys, or a park with a playground for built in fun.

BREWERIES! If it were anywhere other than Asheville, this wouldn’t likely be an option, but several of our local breweries are very family friendly and have open fields and playgrounds or sand boxes for the kids to play in. Similar to restaurants, most can accommodate a large party if you call ahead, and allow you to bring your own cake.
