Grovemont Park Spring Gathering
Join us as we welcome spring with a joyful afternoon in Grovemont Park! Let’s celebrate the blooming bulbs, soak in the beauty of nature, and connect with friends and neighbors in a relaxed and uplifting atmosphere.

Annual Pipes on the Parkway

Book Signing with Asheville Artist, Singer, Swim Instructor and Author: Shalene Hill
Join Swimming Expert Shalene Hill for a Special Storytime & Book Signing!
Bring your little ones to The Hop Ice Cream (Merrimon Ave) on Saturday, March 22nd from 2-4pm for a delightful afternoon with swim instructor and author Shalene Hill! Shalene will share her beautiful children’s book “The Caterpillar’s Song of Courage,” teach parents simple techniques for water safety, and demonstrate how storytelling and music can transform swim lessons from tears to cheers.
Kids will love learning the caterpillar song, while parents gain valuable insights into making water time fun and safe. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Sweet treats and water safety tips—what could be better?

Roller n Holler: a benefit bout to help the hollers
Blue Ridge Roller Derby is excited to announce our first bout of 2025, Roller n Holler. This is a fundraiser triple header in which proceeds will benefit families in the Haywood County area affected by Hurricane Helene.
This is a family friendly event. Tickets are $10 for adults and kids 12+. Admission is free for kids 11 and under. There will be fun halftime games and prizes for winners from local Buncombe and Haywood Co businesses. And the concession stand will be open with food and drink, including veg and gf options, as well as treats sold by Budgie’s Bakery.
Doors will open at 1:00.
At 2pm Blue Ridge Junior Roller Derby will hold a half-hour exhibition bout.
At 3:00pm the Retrogrades (our B team) will take on the Gainesville Roller Rebels from Florida.
Finally, at 5:00pm, we will have our Roller n Holler mixup bout featuring our own Y’all Star skaters along with skaters from other leagues across the Southeast/East Coast (rosters are full and skater signups are now closed).
