Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library FREE Workshop for Families with Children Aged 0-2yrs
“Please join the Literacy Council of Buncombe County for our workshop teaching parents how to read to their children in a way that promotes early literacy skills. This free workshop will focus on the 0-2 age group and explore pre-verbal literacy skills. Bring your baby to participate in the fun, informal, and interactive workshop. The lessons and exercises can easily help build your child’s literacy at home. This workshop is FREE and open to anyone who spends time with a child aged 0-2! Parents, friends, and children of all ages are welcome. There will be activities for those not participating directly in the workshop. Pizza and refreshments will be served after the workshop.
Those children 0-4 not already registered for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will have the opportunity to sign up for the program’s waiting list and take home free books.”

Baby and Beloved Yoga (Babies-1yrs)
This class is for newborns up to babies 1 year old and their parent/friend/guardian. In this class, there are yoga exercises just for babies based upon their individual levels of development, yoga postures for the adult companions which incorporate the babes, songs, gentle movement, infant massage and quiet time. Come and meet your community of babies and friends through this fun and playful approach to yoga with your little one!

Family Yoga (all ages)
“This class is a time for mamas and papas with their children of all ages to joyfully and cooperatively practice yoga together. We mobilize our bodies and brains by breathing, singing, stretching, telling stories, playing games and moving the postures through space. We expand our movement possibilities, practice language skills, connect with others and find moments of reflective stillness. Class engages all ages of children. Babies should be able to be worn on the parent or rest safely on a blanket.”

Tiny Tots Yoga (Crawling Baby-2yrs)

Tiny Tots Yoga is for babies and toddlers (from crawling to 2 years) with a caregiver (parent, friend, or guardian).
This class series is a highly active, playful class with songs and music that integrate yoga exercise. This class offers poses that will support a toddler’s increased mobility, physical explorations, language and cognitive development.
During Tiny Tots Yoga class, crawlers and walkers will playfully practice yoga postures while seated, standing, walking & jumping.
Quiet time will be provided at the end for parents and toddlers who need it.
No prior yoga experience is needed. Mats are used at the end of Tiny Tots Yoga class.

Tween’s/Teens Yoga (8+)
“Yoga for the pre-adolescent and adolescent child, provides a non-competitive, non-judgmental space to develop a healthy body image and strong self-esteem. In this class, tweens and teens will learn appropriate ways to de-stress and cope with the daily pressures of school and social life. Each class will vary depending on the students’ needs, but will include slow flow, breath work, sharing, visualization and relaxation.”
