IT’S BACK, ASHEVILLE!! Our BLOCK PARTY is making a BIG return at Pack Square Park — and you do not want to miss it!
Bring your friends, your family, your neighbors — let’s CELEBRATE our community, youth success, and everything United for Youth stands for!
PARADE (10:00am-2:00pm):
The Town of Franklin, North Carolina invites you to join with us for our Independence Day Parade & Celebration, Friday, July 4th beginning at 10:00 a.m.! Franklin hosts one of the few July 4th parades that visitors and locals alike can actually participate in! There will be great contests, FREE watermelon and more! Follow the link below for additional information HERE
FIREWORKS IN THE PARK (4:00pm-10:00pm):
This year, the Town of Franklin is partnering with Macon County, the Macon County Fair Association and Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce for “Fireworks in the Park”! This event will be held at the Macon County Rec Park with activities beginning at 4:00 p.m. The all aerial fireworks display will be produced again this year by Munerlyn Pyrotechnics. Tap or Click the link below for more information HERE
Celebrate this 4th of July with NC Music Hall of Fame Inductee, David Childers along with Korey Dudley (bass) and Robert Childers (percussion). David returns to the Waverly front porch once again. We will have traditional 4th of July cookout fare of Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and more. Hope to see you here!
Singer-songwriter David Childers is the proverbial study in contradictions. A resident of Mount Holly, North Carolina, he’s a former high-school football player with the aw-shucks demeanor of a good ol’ Southern boy. But he’s also a well-read poet and painter who cites Chaucer and Kerouac as influences, fell in love with folk as a teen, listens to jazz and opera, and fed his family by practicing law before turning in his license to concentrate on his creative passions.
The Cummings Cove Golf & Country Club will be celebrating Independence Day with their members spanning 2 full days (July 5th & 6th), but as usual there will be a spectacular display of fireworks as part of that celebration by their talented resident fireworks team in the evening of July 6th over their golf course, that will be visible by all in the area!
Foothills Watershed is officially open for business!
Join us on July 5th for our Grand Opening, a day-long celebration featuring grill specials, live music, and fun activities for the whole family.
Foothills Watershed is a 117-acre riverside bike park and family hangout in Old Fort, NC—just minutes from downtown. Enjoy trails, shady riverbanks, a natural pond, refreshing drinks, and Latin-inspired food from Chefs Eric Morris and Luis Martinez.
Come celebrate 4th of July with the music of America’s favorite band, played by Asheville’s favorite Grateful Dead tribute band!
Weekend Live Music
Highland Brewing weekend live music showcases amazing bands including local favorites, talented regional acts, and national touring bands hailing from the East Coast and beyond. Free and open to guests of all ages (unless noted otherwise), bring your crew to dance, listen and vibe to a myriad of genres including soul, bluegrass, acoustic, country, folk, R&B and more!
In warmer months, live music is held on the scenic Meadow stage where camp chairs and blankets are welcome. Coolers and outside beverages are not permitted. Shows are rain or shine – if the skies don’t cooperate, the music moves indoors to the Taproom where we’ve got plenty of room for you to boogie down!
If area creeks, rivers, and swimming holes aren’t your thing, and waterparks are too far or too costly for your budget, Asheville has several outdoor swimming pools within a reasonable driving distance to escape to during the heatwave, and all summer long! Check them all out at the link above (in order of distance from AVL)!
We’ve tried to keep our list to those under 1 hour away, but if we’re missing one of your favorites, that you feel is worth the gas and distance, let us know, and we’ll add it!
