La Gaviota Teatro brings their multidisciplinary theatre work “URIKUBU: Language without Frontiers” from Mexico City to The Magnetic Theatre. “Have you ever seen a dragon being born or met the God of Time? Camplify Pinball Extravaganza

Join Camplify and Reid & Reid Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics for Hendersonville’s first Pinball Extravaganza. This charity pinball tournament will raise funds for local leaders in training who attend Henderson County Public Schools. Tickets include include pinball and pizza, drinks, and snacks all night. Come realize your pinball prowess and possibly kick start your career as a pinball wizard master.

Volunteer Workday

Looking to get involved, stay active, and meet some new friends? Public workdays at Sandhill Native Tree Nursery and Edible Orchard take place on the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. until noon at Buncombe County Sports Park (58 Apac Circle in West Asheville/Candler). 2020 dates include:

  • Feb. 1
  • March 7
  • April 4
  • May 2
  • June 6
  • July 11 (the second Saturday due to July 4)
  • Aug. 1
  • Sept. 5
  • Oct. 3
  • Nov. 7

Join other volunteers in mulching, pruning, and weeding along with special projects. Please wear work clothes to get dirty and close-toed shoes. Sunscreen, water, and hat are also handy items to have on hand. All other tools and gear will be provided. Contact Gabby Fitts with any questions at (828) 232-7144 or gabby@ashevillegreenworks.org.

The Sandhill tree nursey is supported with a Buncombe County Community Recreation Grant. Specific native trees are grown at the site and planted in public places throughout the county as a larger plan to plant no less than 500 trees annually. The project allows for a greater variety of fruit and shade trees to support a more diverse ecology.

Pisgah Nights: Space, Spies and Secrets

Join us for a presentation and discussion on the history of our unique site that has been home to NASA, Department of Defense, N.C. Forest Service, Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute and and presently The Learning Center at PARI!

 

Brad McCall who has a deep family history with the site will lead the evening with his deep insights into the campus and its history. Other staff and volunteers will also be included with their personal stories and past relationships with the site.

• Lite snacks will be served.
• Pre-registration is required.
• We welcome people of all ages and interest to this unique event.

Grand Opening Celebration

Located just a stone’s throw from Sierra Nevada and the Asheville Regional Airport, the Riveter joins outdoor adventure and environmental sustainability with a 40,000 square foot facility perched above a 10-acre working farm leading down to the French Broad River.

The Riveter is home to 16,000+ square feet of climbing terrain; 18,000+ square feet of progressive jump lines, drop training, and a Velosolutions world-qualifier pump pump; yoga studio; spin studio; community space; libation station; retail shop; and outdoor courses including a cross-country perimeter trail around the farm.

Join us Saturday Feb 29 for a NINJA LASER TAG NIGHT:

Laser tag marathons, games, dinner, talent show, and more! (At the EAST ASHEVILLE location across from Cocula on Tunnel Rd.)

Parents, drop your kids ages 4-12 off with us for the evening while you go do *whatever you want to do* and we will have a blast from 6-9:30 pm. Just pick them up at 9:30, ready for bed! 🙂

You do not have to be a student at Blue Ridge TKD to attend Ninja LASER TAG Night – this is open to the community!

$25/child, $20/additional sibling, includes pizza dinner. (If your child needs alternate food options, you may bring something in for them – but please keep our facility peanut-free.)

The Beer City Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are a 501(c)3 public charitable organization located in Asheville, NC. They are dedicated to the support, education, and development of the Western North Carolina community. With the larger goals to promote universal joy and expiate stigmatic guilt, the Beer City Sisters are also dedicated to promoting and celebrating diversity, social awareness, the prevention of all sexually transmitted diseases, and total eradication of hate. They serve the community through creative expression and humor for advocacy, education, outreach and philanthropy.
