Enka-Candler Library Open House Tour

What: Enka-Candler Library Open House Tour
When: Monday, Nov. 18, from 6-7 p.m.
Where: Enka-Candler Library, 1404 Sandhill Road, Candler NC, 28715

Please be our guest at an open house event as we celebrate the completion of our Enka-Candler Library Branch expansion and renovations. “This expansion is a significant upgrade and will increase the level of service to the community. It will allow capacity for larger programs, provide space for community meetings, and improve the overall experience patrons have in using the variety of resources the library has to offer,” says Library Director Jim Blanton.

The renovations and expansion included:

· 2,800 square feet of added community space
· New storefront windows throughout the facility

· New HVAC units for the entire facility

· New carpet throughout the entire facility

· Repainting and redesign of the children’s area

· Repaired and refurbished circulation desk

· Repaired and repainted several windowsills on the existing library side

· Converted all light fixtures to LED

· New furniture throughout the facility

· Pressure washed the metal awning around the entire facility

The reception will include a welcoming introduction from our Library Director and Commissioners, a walking tour of the new space, and refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library. Everyone is welcome to attend, and we hope to see you there.

Visit downtown on this Saturday – many shops will be open for extended business hours until 7pm, some will be hosting local makers/artists and vendors in their shops for an added bonus in fulfilling your holiday shopping needs. Some will be offering light refreshments such as free cocoa, cider, and cookies. Top it all off by bringing the kids to see Santa Claus at The Southern Porch restaurant from 6pm to 8pm.

R+W connecting the ANDs Family Book Club

Roots + Wings School of Art + Design is pleased to offer a new book club for the whole family! Each season, we’ll select a series of books dealing with social issues, including books for adults, teens, middle grade students, and picture books and host a series of discussion groups and events for various ages, or follow along on your own and have your own book club discussion around the dinner table.
We don’t claim to be experts in any of these topics, but as one of our connecting the ANDs projects, the goal of this book club is to build community, expand our circle, and create meaningful connections. We want to hold space for these important conversations in and across communities. We’ll also collect and share resources to help support families having conversations around these sometimes difficult subjects. Visit rootsandwingsarts.com for more information and registration. We suggest a donation of $10 per series, 10% of which goes directly to support the Colorful Pages Coalition.
