Anniversary Concert: Pat & Becky Stone, Zoe & Cloyd, David Holt
This event is free and open to the public, but due to limited seating you must have a ticket. Tickets can be picked up in person at the Fairview Public Library.
Join us at the final event in our year-long celebration of Fairview Library’s 20th Anniversary year. This special evening will be filled with performances by David Holt and Zoe & Cloyd, and MC-d by Fairview’s own Becky and Pat Stone.
Memories will be shared, fun stories will be told, and community will be had.
Hailing from opposite ends of the Appalachian mountains, Zoe & Cloyd is renowned fiddler and vocalist Natalya Zoe Weinstein and award-winning songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist John Cloyd Miller. Their show is as diverse as their upbringing: coming from a lineage of klezmer and jazz musicians, Natalya trained classically in her home state of Massachusetts before moving south in 2004. John, a twelfth generation North Carolinian and grandson of pioneering bluegrass fiddler, Jim Shumate, is a 1st place winner of the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest as well as an Artist Fellowship recipient for songwriting from the North Carolina Arts Council.
Four-time Grammy Award winner David Holt is a musician, storyteller, historian, television host and entertainer, dedicated to performing and preserving traditional American music and stories. Holt plays ten acoustic instruments and has released numerous award winning recordings of traditional mountain music and southern folktales.
Holt is well known for his television and radio series. David is currently hosting the PBS series David Holt’s State of Music, featuring some of the regions finest musicians including Rhiannon Giddens, Steep Canyon Rangers and Balsam Range. For over 30 years David has been host of the NC PBS series Folkways that takes the viewer through the Southern Mountains visiting traditional craftsmen and musicians. In 2002, Doc Watson and David won two Grammy Awards for Best Traditional Folk Recording for Legacy, a three CD collection of songs and stories reflecting Doc Watson’s inspiring life story.
Becky and Pat Stone, our MCs for the evening, are storytellers and musicians, whose credits include many a library performance, Stories on the Front Porch, Chautauqua, Bele Chere, and much more. Together they publish GreenPrints magazine, have four wonderful children, and are beloved by their Fairview community.
