FREE House Tour Day

In order to provide more free opportunities for all visitors to enjoy the Sandburg Home, the park is adding five free tour days annually. In 2019: October 17 (park anniversary) and December 28 (Saturday after Christmas during the local school system’s Christmas break). In 2020: January 6 (Carl Sandburg’s birthday); April 11 (first weekend of the local school system’s spring break); and June 13 (the Sandburgs’ wedding anniversary).

These Sandburg-specific free tour dates are in addition to “fee free” days observed annually by the entire national park system.

FREE Kindermusik Class

FREE MONTH OF KINDERMUSIK!
Wednesdays, Sept 18th-Oct 9th 10:00am-11:00am – FREE Kindermusik Classes at Piano Lab in Fairview. This class is for children ages 2-4yrs (although 0-2s are welcome as well!) and is a wonderful environment to enjoy melodies, rhythms, and group-play with your little one. PLUS! When you come to at least 3 out of the 4 free classes, you will receive 10% OFF enrollment in future Kindermusik session dates.

Kids Eat FREE Mondays & Tuesdays

Sure, there are a lot of restaurants where kids eat free one day per week. Huddle House doubles the deal with free kid’s meals on Monday and Tuesday. Saturday Shred Session ( 8-15 years old)

Saturday Shred Sessions are back!!

•Each session will include a short refresher on MTB basics and etiquette, followed by a day of progression oriented rides lead by our team of KoloFlowCamp instructors.

•Sessions last from 9:30am-4pm.

•Age range is 8-15 years old.

Make your own glass pumpkin! (13 years of age or older )

Get in the fall spirit by making your own glass pumpkin! This September – November we are adding a pumpkin option to our 30-minute make your own classes. For $80 you will work with one of our talented, experienced artist instructors to craft your very own pumpkin that will serve as a glass keepsake for years to come. Learn the basics of working with molten glass as your instructor guides you through the entire process! All levels welcome.

Time slots are available every day, but Tuesdays, from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (last slot begins at 5:30 pm). If you would like to share this experience with others, please book consecutive time slots for each individual. Spectators are always welcome free of charge!

Students must be 13 years of age or older with a signed waiver by a parent or legal guardian.

Please note that due to the nature of hot glass, pieces may not be taken home the day they are made. They must slowly cool first and may be picked up the following day after 3:00 pm. Shipping can be arranged for an additional fee.

Tot Time (riders 5 and under)

Wednesdays 9:30am-11:30am

Tot Time at Kolo Bike Park at the Adventure Center of Asheville. Tot time is for riders 5 and under to get a chance to ride the pump track and skills area free from the pressures of bigger older kids buzzing around them. Helmet and closed toe shoes are required for anyone riding. $5/Admission (when you bring your own bike), $15/Bike Rental (includes park admission).

Walmart Car Seat Trade In Event

Sept 16th-30th –

The first-ever Walmart Car Seat Recycling Event will take place Sept. 16-30, in celebration of National Baby Safety Month. Customers can trade in used car seats at the Service desk in any participating Walmart store and receive a $30 Walmart gift card* that can be used in store or online to buy items for their baby. All car seats collected in this program will be recycled through TerraCycle, and each component will be diverted from the landfill.

➖Limit 2 trade-ins per household

➖Any car seat brand accepted

➖Booster seats are not eligible for trade in
