Second Annual LLL of Buncombe County Family Picnic

Please join us for our Second Annual La Leche League of Buncombe County Family Picnic as part of Live, Love, Latch and National Breastfeeding Month!

Live, Love, Latch is a celebration of breastfeeding, but also a celebration of all those in our lives and the community that support breastfeeding. Without those individuals, many breastfeeding relationships would cease to be! ALL breastfeeding supporters are welcomed at and encouraged to attend his event! Come one, come all!

La Leche League of Buncombe County will be providing taco bar ingredients, as well as water. We will have coloring activities fro children and there is a playground not far from the gazebo where the event will be held. We will have cookies graciously donated by Lydia Rae Caldwell and Dorothea’s Kitchen. We encourage you to bring snacks and desserts to share.

We have received many generous donations that we will be raffling off. Tickets will be available for purchase on site. While credit card payments will be accepted if need be, cash is preferred for ease. The raffle sales will begin at 2pm. and the drawing will be at 4pm.

Please reach out to Kathy Rennie, Valerie Walker Vanderlip, or Claudia Friar Burke should you have any questions and we look forward to celebrating our wonderful community with you!

Free Public Library Centennial Celebration

Come join us to celebrate our 100 years of being a free public library in Asheville!

We’ll have hands-on activities for kids, a library themed relay race in our auditorium, library tours of ALL of the floors, historical displays presented by the NC Room, Hop Ice Cream Cafe specialty flavors for the occasion, Sweet Cheesus food truck, music, and much more!

In the weeks leading up we’ll be hiding golden tickets within library books on the adult floor and on the children’s floor. These books will be wrapped and on display. If you check out the book with the golden ticket, you are entered into our Super Bookstore Sweep! 6 adults and 6 children will run around the Friends used bookstore and collect as many books as can fit into our special tote bags in a certain amount of time. (Children will go first, adults will be second.) This will take place on July 26, our celebration day! Golden ticket winners will receive more information at the front desk.

Throughout the month of July some breweries around town will be presenting a specialty brew they made for the library’s celebration! You’ll get to see which brewers are bibliophiles and taste a creation inspired by literature. Dates & breweries TBA in upcoming weeks.
