Scavenger Hunt and Backpack Giveaway!

Buncombe County Community Engagement Team and Pack Memorial Library are hosting a scavenger hunt for those ages 13-18.

We want to stress the importance of literacy and navigating through the local library system. Pack has the North Carolina Room which has extensive local and family history resources.

On top of the scavenger hunt, we’ll have library tours, videos, and 30 fully stocked middle school backpacks from United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County‘s School Supply Drive! Prizes will be awarded to the winning scavenger hunt team. If you cannot make this event yet are interested in learning more about how to access donated school supplies, call 2-1-1 or 252-HELP.

Fall Festival Kick-Off Party & BBQ Menu Launch

September and October are a special time of year at the farm. Beginning Labor Day weekend, we welcome guests to experience the fall through our many on-site activities:

On Saturday, August 31st, we invite you out to celebrate the kick-off to fall festivities. We will have live music, games, and delicious food. Our new BBQ inspired catering menu will be available for dinner, please bring a hungry belly and let us know what you think!

Ticket price includes cost of fall admission, dinner*, rides, and entertainment. Horseback rides are separate and will be scheduled at time of arrival based on availability.

FREE Back to School Haircut Clinic

Interfaith Assistance Ministry is offering FREE back to school haircuts for kids ages 4-18yrs who receive free or reduced lunch at a Henderson County Public School. In the parking lot of IAM.

A Very Jerry Birthday Bash

Join your sweet Asheville Deadhead Family down by the river for a full Saturday in August celebrating all things Jerry with this amazing, unprecedented, all local extravaganza! 10 full hours of Jerry Magic plus a full Shakedown vending scene to boot. Very Kid Friendly!

And then there’s the music!!! Luckily it’s summer and you can dance barefoot. Because your dancing shoes would not survive this onslaught!

THE VERY JERRY BAND
Featuring Spiro Nicolopoulis, the Paper Crowns Band, and lots of special guests. Two Full sets of all of our very favorite Jerry candy to cap off a full day of dancing and celebration, with a lot of guest spots. This amazing band only plays together TWICE this year, so you really don’t want to miss this very special show!

PHUNCLE SAM
The Pioneers of the Asheville Dead scene who have been bringing us all together to share the love and the music for soooo long! You know they’re gonna bring a very special show for Jerry’s special day! Love you guys soooo much!!

DIRTY DEAD
Asheville’s own Garage Band Dead experience will rock our socks off with some early 70s Pigpen era Dead to shred our heads. These guys bring such a relentless jam and energy!

THE BALD MOUNTAIN BOYS
Our favorite hippie bluegrass jam band gets the festivities going at 4 sharp with some crisp renditions of all our favorite Old and In the Way tunes. Can’t think of anything I’d rather do on a beautiful Saturday afternoon down by the river!!

ALL THIS AND A FULL SHAKEDOWN VENDING SCENE!
Bring your hippie wares or come shopping for a new wardrobe! We’re taking over the entire field for our own Very Jerry Shakedown, complete with the Shakedown Acoustic Stage featuring some of our favorite neighbors playing some acoustic Dead during the set breaks. I bet Arjay will play a set…..

TOTALLY KID FRIENDLY
Watch this space for confirmation, but we’re planning on building a super fun kid space complete with nappy time and late night snooze space for the little ones. And this show will be All Ages all day and all night! Kids under 12 years old are free!

Come Celebrate 3 years & 10k weirdos!

Join us on Saturday August 24th, 2-6 family friendly, booths, entertainers, performances, BOUNCY HOUSE, 2 food trucks, and face painting! Then we’ll take a break for set up, & come back at 8 for even more fun, belly dancing, aerial arts, fire show, & sideshow performers! Suggested donation of $5 for all day!!!

Plus! come in costume & win! At 4pm, all human kittens in costume are invited to the kitty costume parade, we’ll walk through the space & outside! All junior weirdos encouraged to participate, and there’s a prize for entering too! Then at 9pm, the adult cat costume contest with prizes!

10% of tba drink special from Tito’s vodka goes to the Emergency Fund! And Tito’s vodka is matching up to $1,000!!!

New Leicester Highway Sidewalk Open House

The City of Asheville will be building a sidewalk from New Leicester Highway at Patton Avenue out to the City limit around 396 New Leicester Highway as part of the bond project.

Get Off the Grid Fest Sustainability Fair & Solar Expo

GET OFF THE GRID FEST is a 3-Day, 3-Stage, music & sustainability festival which will feature an alternative energy expo & will power the entire fest with solar power!

An incredible weekend featuring 3 music stages with 38 national & local bands.

Enjoy Workshops & Activities Presentations & Panels  from over 50 speakers in the field on energy & environment, food & agriculture, health & wellness, arts & community, as well as panel discussions on Renewable Energy Policy and Infrastructure, Climate Change and Justice in NC and Green Jobs.

Family Paint Party

Bring the whole gang & join Hues of Hendo in the Mezzanine at Triskelion as we raise some cash for Mountain Community School. Forty percent of the profits from this event will go to them. This event is open to the public & you do not have to be associated with the school to attend.

Includes all materials and artist instruction.

Hues of Hendo pre-draws each scene on the canvas (with the exception of the family tree) and traces the lines after you’re finished painting with black paint to make the images POP!

We’ll enjoy a private party in the Mezzanine with our own, personal bartender. Guests are welcome to bring in their own snacks or takeout to enjoy during the event.
