Mornings on the Farm

Tuesdays in July

As our farm friends arrive we will be sharing our favorite Dynamite Roasting Company coffee with the adults. A juice box and light snack will be provided for each child as we get settled in for a good story. Each week we will read an exciting children’s book. Participating children will be given one ticket to place in the raffle for a chance to win a copy of our featured book. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $1. A simple craft or activity will give each child a take home from the day. We will also spend some time outdoors meeting each of our animals and exploring the farm.
Lastly, we will end the morning with pasture play. There will be outdoor play stations set up in the pasture. Feel free to pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the rest of your time on the farm. There are tables and seating in the barn or bring a blanket to set out in the pasture.
(All children must be accompanied by an adult during their time on the farm.

(cash, PayPal, and Venmo payments accepted)

$12/child

Free Public Library Centennial Celebration

Come join us to celebrate our 100 years of being a free public library in Asheville!

We’ll have hands-on activities for kids, a library themed relay race in our auditorium, library tours of ALL of the floors, historical displays presented by the NC Room, Hop Ice Cream Cafe specialty flavors for the occasion, Sweet Cheesus food truck, music, and much more!

In the weeks leading up we’ll be hiding golden tickets within library books on the adult floor and on the children’s floor. These books will be wrapped and on display. If you check out the book with the golden ticket, you are entered into our Super Bookstore Sweep! 6 adults and 6 children will run around the Friends used bookstore and collect as many books as can fit into our special tote bags in a certain amount of time. (Children will go first, adults will be second.) This will take place on July 26, our celebration day! Golden ticket winners will receive more information at the front desk.

Throughout the month of July some breweries around town will be presenting a specialty brew they made for the library’s celebration! You’ll get to see which brewers are bibliophiles and taste a creation inspired by literature. Dates & breweries TBA in upcoming weeks.
