Join the Sandy Mush 4H as they honor our local heroes. They will be offering a free Soup Chili, and potato bar for all vets from 1-3pm with a ceremony at 2:30pm. For all others Adults are $6 and children are $4.

Season of Light Multicultural Holiday Celebration
Welcome the Season of Light at a community celebration of holidays from around the world!
Connect with friends, family and neighbors at the Season of Light Multicultural Holiday Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Pigeon Community Multicultural Development Center in Waynesville.
Guests at the drop-in, family-friendly event enjoy hors d’oeuvres from cultural celebrations and learn about traditional music, games and customs of Advent, Diwali, Hanukkah, Fiesta de la Griteria, Las Posadas, Winter Solstice and Kwanzaa. The evening concludes with a dessert bar and singing of “This Little Light of Mine” by candlelight.
Admission to the event is $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 for ages 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and younger with two nonperishable food items to support the center’s emergency food box program.
Tickets can be purchased by cash or check at the center Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Tickets also will be available after Friday, Nov. 9, at Blue Ridge Books and church offices of First United Methodist Church and Grace Church in the Mountains. In addition, tickets may be purchased online with an additional processing fee per ticket at ticketstripe.com/season-of-light-celebration.

Just Economics mission centers on educating, advocating, and organizing for a just and sustainable local economy that works for all in Western North Carolina. We advocate for living wages, public transit, affordable housing, and a part of that is advocating for affordable childcare options in our local community. Please join us and our volunteer childcare caregivers in providing a Night Out that benefits the work we do in Western North Carolina. Armistice Day Bell Ringing
Armistice Day Bell Ringing: Bells will toll in unison across North Carolina and throughout the world at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 to commemorate the centennial of Armistice Day. When the Armistice ending World War I was signed on Nov. 11, 1918 at 11 a.m., bells rang in celebration around the world. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources has encouraged local history groups and community organizations to ring bells 21 times at 11 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 11. Mars Hill University will participate in this commemoration by ringing the historic bell atop Marshbanks Hall.

2nd Annual Fort to Flag Hike/Ruck/Run
The 2nd Annual Fort to Flag hike/ruck/run will start at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 10. This year, hot dogs and cider will be provided at Point Overlook. This is a dog-friendly, child-friendly community celebration that recognizes our Veterans.
This event is sanctioned by the American Volkssport Association with 5/10/20K options.
