The Town of Franklin Honors All Veterans | Monday, November 12, 2018
10:30am – Parade (Line-up at 10:00am)
11:00am – Veterans Ceremony (Gazebo on the Square)
Join the Town of Franklin as we, along with our citizens, honor Veterans on November 12th with a parade & ceremony. Once again in 2018 featuring the award winning FHS Marching Panther Regiment.
The parade will leave the lower level of Franklin Town Hall at 10:30 am and travel to the Gazebo on the Square for the ceremony. Special banners, carried by the Boy Scouts, lead each group of Veterans along the parade route according to the war or time period of service. Lineup begins at 10:00am for Veterans that wish to participate.
The Veterans Ceremony begins at 11:00am and is always very moving. It features a guest speaker along with a wreath laying ceremony and the playing of Taps. Come, bring the entire family and show your appreciation of these men and women who have served. We also encourage you to show your patriotic pride by dressing in red, white and blue!

Shakespeare Theater Workshop Open to Local Students and Teachers (8th-12th Grade & Adults)
On Saturday, November 3, Asheville School will host the second annual Shakespeare and Friends Day, a day of workshops led by professionals from the American Shakespeare Center based in Staunton, Virginia, and the North Carolina Stage Company (NC Stage) based in Asheville, North Carolina.
Student workshops include “Shakespeare in Action,” in which attendees will learn combat techniques for the stage; “Embedded Stage Directions: Finding Clues in the Text,” during which students will combine textual analysis with performance; and “Character Play: Physical and Vocal,” a workshop that teaches students how to enhance characterization through tone, movement and stage presence.
There is also a workshop for teachers. “ROADS to Rhetoric: An Introduction to Rhetorical Figures for the Classroom” will help teachers learn to walk their students through rhetorical devices used by Shakespeare that can help students garner a deeper understanding of the characters and context of his works.
The workshops are open to students in eighth through twelfth grades, and any teacher interested in learning about strategies to use in text analysis in their classroom.
All Asheville School students and families should email Kathy Leiner at leinerk@ashevilleschool.org to sign up instead of using the ticket link.
