Wet noses welcome! Join us on the patio for another Puppy Hour on National Dog Day — Sunday, August 26. From 2:30 to 5:30 pm, well-behaved dogs will get free treats and a Brixx dog bowl to take home (while supplies last) and their humans will enjoy BOGO appetizers.
Embark on a wild adventure! Kids will meet an animal ambassador, take a peek behind-the-scenes, and step into the shoes of our animal keepers to learn how we take care of the animals.
This program is for children ages 5-12. An adult is required to attend with the children in a group.

The Town of Old Fort is bringing a family-fun carnival to the area this week featuring rides, games, food and more.
B&K Carnival Company is from South Carolina but travel throughout the southeast, and frequently in western North Carolina. A last-minute cancellation helped spring Old Fort to the top of the carnival’s list, according to Mayor Pro Tem Andrew Carlton, who said he has tried to book the popular fair for years.
B&K Carnival will have bumper cars, a carousel, kiddie rides, Ferris wheel, the Roundup, Freedom 2000 simulator, Hurricane, and more. There will be food and games, and tons of fun for families and kids of all ages.
The carnival will be behind McDonald’s in Old Fort Wednesday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 or 11 p.m. and on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 10 or 11 p.m. Take Catawba River Road and turn down Ted Smith Road before Mustard’s.
Admission and parking are free. Unlimited wrist bands will be available every day. There is a $3 off coupon available at Old Fort Town Hall, local businesses, the B&K Carnival Facebook page, and at www.mcdowellnews.com.
