Family Health and Wellness Day

Fletcher Parks and Recreation invites all Fletcher area residents to join them on Saturday, June 9 for national Family Health & Fitness Day. Organized by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), Family Health & Fitness Day promotes the importance of local parks and recreation in keeping communities healthy. To celebrate, Fletcher Parks and Recreation encourages everyone to gather with family and friends to get active at Bill Moore Community Park (formerly Fletcher Park ) on Saturday June 9th beginning at 9 am.

Our favorite part of the course is feeding our new 7 baby goslings and the ducks! We will have feeding areas for the children who visit to feed them proper food-not bread or crackers!

Jump Off Rock Music Festival

This is the rain date from the June Jump Off Rock Concert, so all tickets purchased for the June 8th concert will be honored for this concert!

This concert at Jump Off Rock features Dashboard Blue, who plays a wide variety of timeless dance grooves, including Rock, R&B, 50′s, Disco, Funk, Pop, Beach, Motown, Country and the classics. BYO Beer and wine, coolers and picnics are permitted.

Gates open at 4:30pm, concert starts at 5pm. Tickets $10, Children under age 12 free, tickets can be purchased at Laurel Park Town Hall, the Hendersonville Visitor Center or Crate Wine Market & Project. Rain date is September 15.

9th Annual ‘Let’s be Crystal Queer: It’s Yo Prom!’ (14-20yrs)

Youth OutRight’s 9th annual prom will be held Saturday June 2 from 7:00- 10:00 PM at the Doubletree Biltmore Hotel. This year’s “Crystal Queer Prom” promises to be a rockin’ event, with Crystal and Gem-themed decorations supported by Illuminera, a catered buffet, a gem of a photo booth by Vintage Nouveau, music by DJ Deven, and performances by the reigning Miss Blue Ridge Pride Anna Tomical and former Miss Blue Ridge Pride Ginger Von Snap. The event invites youth to bring your preferred date or come solo and party with your friends, and to dress in whatever way you feel comfortable with the goal of celebrating together in an open, safe, and affirming environment.

Meet Your Maker/Summer of Glass #1

Join us for the Second Edition of our Meet Your Maker Series featuring Glass Artists Ben Elliott of Cane River Glass, and Jamie Wickliffe of Sand Spirit Glassworks-they will be doing live Flame-working demonstrations in intervals throughout the day! A studio Flame-Off! Local snacks and beverages, FREE, Family-friendly and educational!

Community Yard Sale at The Creamery

Over the years we at The Hop have accumulated some pretty awesome stuff, but some of it is no longer useful to us. So we are having a yard sale! And we have opened it up to the neighborhood as well, which means there will be about 10 vendors with a wide variety of wares, including a great many (some pictured below) from Christopher’s Garden (the blue bottle garden and studio behind the WALK)! And of course there will be Ice Cream available as well 🙂
