Jake Rusher Park design concept community review

New amenities are coming to Jake Rusher Park in south Asheville!

Before the City finalizes the planned improvements, staff want to check in with residents on the park concept crafted from earlier community meetings. A park concept plan will be presented for residents to review and provide their feedback. The Jake Rusher Park concept rendering includes:

Playground improvements
Splashpad
Restroom facilities
Parking spaces
Picnic area with grills
Basketball, pickleball and tennis courts


These upgrades and improvements will create a fun, safe and more useful park for Asheville residents.

Summer Baby Boogie Class

Baby Boogie 9 Week Summer Session is here! Classes will be running on selected dates from June through August- purchase a class pass and come when it works for you!

Heres the details:
Saturdays from 10:00-10:45am at The Mothership in West AVL
Ages 12 months through 4 years with a caregiver
June 2nd, 9th, 21st, July 7th, 14th (BONUS DAY!), 21st, 28th, August 11th, 18th and 25th
9 Class Pass for $40 (that includes 1 FREE class!)
5 Class Pass for $25 (come on the dates of your choice!)

1 Class for $8 (drop-in)

Live Art Sessions with Mikhaila Hines & John Hornsby

Mikhaila and John will share a canvas in Tiltbrush. Taking turns painting in 3D space while you watch them put together their collaborative work of art.

We will live stream the session (https://twitch.tv/sheepsknuckles) and record it so you can watch in the future but we would also love to have you come in and check us out!

Splash Kid’s Bible Adventure VBS begins (Preschooler-5th Grade)

June 12th-14th

Your child is invited to join us for SPLASH!

Preschoolers through 5th grade

It’s not you ordinary VBS… Instead we’re planning Monumental Worship, Monumental Fun, and Monumental Change!

SPLASH is an exciting 3 night event your child will love!
There will be music, games, skits, and stories plus wild and crazy fun! Your child will get wet and VERY messy so be sure they dress accordingly. Children must wear water shoes or aqua socks, something rubber soled, but NO FLIP FLOPS ALLOWED.

Children will be admitted through the front sanctuary doors. They will be dismissed from the rear parking lot. Please plan to park in front and walk around the church via the breezeway. We do advise you bring a towel when you pick them up.

We welcome you to stay for an Adult Bible Study from 6:15-7:45 pm. Enjoy light refreshments, meeting new people and a great Bible study while your children enjoy SPLASH!

Second Saturdays Studio Stroll & Art Sale

SECOND SATURDAYS IN THE RAD!

On the Second Saturday of each month, the River Arts District Artists, Asheville holds gallery walks with demonstrations, workshops, live music, wine tastings, delicious food, and more! Meander the mile-long district or hop on and off the free trolley and discover all that the “RAD” has to offer. Celebrate art, craft, and design with over 300 artists in 26 buildings. Studios are open daily, but Second Saturday Art Stroll js the best day of the month to meet the most artists, collect original artwork, see art demonstrations, and party with the artists at exhibit receptions. Family fun and ample parking! There’s also a beautiful Greenway adjacent to the RAD that runs beside the French Broad River, so bring the bikes and scooters and make a day of it!

RIDE the FREE Trolley! Prime hours are 10-5 with the FREE @artsasheville trolley scooting around the RAD and downtown AVL from 12-6. Look for the “FREE Trolley” signs around the District and hop on and off.
