Strong Roots Gardening Program (7-14yrs)

Registration Ends July 6th
Sundays, July 9th-Oct 1st, 2:00pm-4:00pm – Strong Roots Gardening Program for kids at Southside Community Garden behind the Arthur R Edington Education & Career Center. A FREE, 12-week gardening and urban agricultural education opportunity for children. Register in person at The Edington Center (133 Livingston St), the Dr. Wesley Grant, Sr Southside Community Center (285 Livingston St), or by contacting the instructor Chaka at chaka@bountifulcities.org or 828-407-9498. Ages 7-14 years. FREE. 

*** Program begins July 9th and will meet 12 Sundays, ending October 1st, skipping one Sunday, and there will be a field trip on Sept 30th. ***

** Children who live in the community of the Southside Community Garden will be given priority registration ***

Parent CHILD NIGHT (1-3yrs)

DON’T MISS THIS FUN EVENING!! BRING YOUR CHILD (one to three years old) and experience the Montessori way! We will have the areas of the Montessori curriculum highlighted for you and your child to discover and enjoy. Come learn and play together! Mountain Pet Rescue is having our second yard sale/fundraiser!

There will be lots of great items for sale including furniture, kitchen equipment, kid and baby gear, electronics, outdoor and sports equipment, and some unique treasures you’ll have to come out and scope for yourself!

Autumn Rails Train Show

All Scales Model Train Show
Sponsored by the French Broad e’N’pire NTRAK Club
Hours: 12:00noon – 7:00pm (Friday) & 10:00am – 4:00pm (Saturday)
Admission: Teens & Adults $6.00 for both days, Children under 12 and Scouts in uniform free.
Operating Layouts
The show will feature operating layouts from Z – #1 Scale layouts, Tables of model railroad equipment and supplies in all scales from Z to G, railroad memorabilia, clothing items and railroad art. There will be door prizes.

Ultimate Air Dog Competition

It is high flying fun Columbus Day Weekend as Asheville Outlets, (www.shopashevilleoutlets.com) Ingles and iHeart Radio team up to host the 3rd Annual Air Dogs (UAD) Competition October 6 – 8, 2017. For 3 days, shoppers will enjoy watching the competitor’s jump, catch, dive and retrieve in a 90’ pool set-up in the parking lot in front of Field & Stream. The competition begins Friday, October 6th at 5 p.m. and runs through 4:30 p.m., Sunday, October 8th. The event is free to spectators.

Monster Pumpkin Mash

Come create your own monster pumpkin with the Asheville Museum of Science. We will have all of the supplies, just bring your creativity! On October 21st from 1:30-4:30pm in the STEM Lab their will be pumpkins*, nuts, bolts, washers, and other bits and bobs to create your vary own monster in the AMOS STEM Lab. This event is included with admission, with a suggested donation of $3/pumpkin.

Yoga Party Halloween! (all ages)

Join children’s yoga expert Brandon from Black Mountain Yoga in a series of Halloween stories and play. Healthy(ish) snacks and non-food treats will be there for all. Please come in a costume comfortable enough for simple yoga poses. Fun for all ages.
