Vance Rocket Run 5k and Kids’ Comet Dash

Grab your family and friends and come run with us through West Asheville neighborhoods. The Rocket Run is a 5k race that begins and ends at Vance Elementary School and the Kids Comet Dash is a fun obstacle course race for kids. 5k starts at 9am, Kids Dash is at 10am. Woods & Wilds: Storytelling & Music Festival

Join Dogwood Alliance Sunday October 1st for our 2nd annual Woods and Wilds Festival from 1-10pm at the Salvage Station in Asheville! The Festival will feature regional storytellers, live music from The Get Right Band, Lyric and others as well as kid friendly activities. Join us to celebrate 21 years of standing with the people and forests of the South!

Please carpool if you can. LYFT offers discounts to The Salvage Station. The Salvage Station has dedicated parking for 350 cars. If the lot is full, please park down the road.

Second Ever Run Sing Thing

The RUN SING THING is taking place at Carrier Park, November 6, 2016 at 1pm in Asheville, NC. Proceeds benefit Arts For Life. It is a five kilometer (3ish miles) singalong while running at Carrier Park. It is kind of like a flash mob, concert, choir, running club and race all rolled into one.

If you’re not much of a singer, then running may help. If you’re not much of a runner then singing may help.

Stage Production: “The Little Mermaid, Jr.”

Join us under the sea and beyond as ArtSpace Charter School students perform the classic Disney musical The Little Mermaid, Jr. based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film.

This classic Disney title contains all of the songs from the Academy Award-winning animated feature film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show.

Stargazing and Cosmic Storytelling

Join local astronomer and author Stephan Martin on a tour of the stars and constellations of the fall night sky above the farm. We’ll discuss some of the myths of the constellations along with the seasonal changes in the sky at this time as well as some of the latest discoveries in astronomy and theories of the universe. All ages are welcome and no background in astronomy or science is required.

Reptile Ecology Lecture with Candace Thomson

The speaker is Candace Thomson, an Americorp volunteer working for the WNC Nature Center. She will be accompanied by Red, the eastern box turtle and Oak, a snake! It will take place at the Montford Community Center. As always, the lecture is free and open to everyone, but most importantly, children! Please come!
