Lake Julian Bird Walk

Have you ever wanted to get to know the birds that you see and hear around you? Come join international birdwatching guide Kevin Burke for an easy stroll around Lake Julian Park. We will spend a couple leisurely hours looking for as many birds as we can find. There will be plenty of time for questions and ID study of all the birds that we see. Let’s have some fun and find some birds.

We’ll meet at Diamond Brand Outdoors in Parkway Center and carpool to Lake Julian. Kids and well-behaved pets with owner on leash are welcome at this FREE event.

‘Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age’ Documentary

FREE COMMUNITY EVENT: Carolina Day School invites area parents, schools, students (grades 5-12), and teachers to a free community forum on the effects of screentime on the human brain, featuring a large-screen showing and discussion of the film, “Screenagers,” led by Dr. Beth Vo, Asheville pediatric physician.

Snapshots of History: Thomas Wolfe’s Asheville

Silent HORROR Film Night with Film Historian Chip Kaufmann (6th-12 Grade & Adults)

Check out one or more of the classic horror films of the silent era with background and commentary by a local expert. In honor of Halloween, we’ll be watching the classic Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde followed by the 1925 Stan Laurel parody, Dr. Pickle & Mr. Pride.  Free popcorn!
