Ages 3-5 with an adult.
Learn the basics of tumbling! Toddlers will stretch those muscles through jumping, forward rolls, skipping and so much more.
Fee: $20/session or $5 per week

A repair cafe is an event where participants can bring their broken electronics and small appliances, and engage in the process of fixing them. We will provide tools, materials, and most importantly knowledgeable volunteers, available to assist in the repair effort. No former fix-it experience is necessary. All are welcome to participate; volunteers to help are also welcome.

BAKEOFF CONTEST: November 4th, 1:00pm-4:00pm
On Saturday, November 4, Henderson County 4-H will hold the annual Bake-Off Contest, open to all youth in Henderson County between the ages of 5 – 18. Each year, young bakers have surprised and delighted the judges by submitting delicious breads, cookies, cakes, muffins and brownies. The 4-H Bake-Off will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on 6th Avenue West from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. While the baked goods are being judged, we will make crafts for a nursing home and bake cookies for The Storehouse, a local food and hygiene pantry. There is no cost to enter the contest, but a registration form and a typed copy of the recipe must be submitted to the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Henderson County Center, in Jackson Park by Friday, October 20. Richard Louv, author of nine books about the connections between family, nature and community including Last Child in the Woods, The Nature Principle, and, most recently, Vitamin N: The Essential Guide to a Nature Rich Life, will speak at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain. The title of his talk is “The Hybrid Mind: The more high-tech our lives become, the more nature we need.” The event will be held at 7:00 pm in the Washburn Center. The program will also include a question and answer session followed by a book signing. Vitamin N, his latest book, will be available for purchase at the event.
The evening is being sponsored by the Environmental Educators of North Carolina (EENC) as a preconference event for the organization’s 25th Anniversary Conference which will be held at the Blue Ridge Assembly September 23 – 25. EENC members can attend the presentation for free! Admission for non-EENC members is $10.00.
