As part of Pollinator Week, Fred Roane, our park naturalist, will lead a nature hike through the park, showcasing the pollinator gardens and other “back-to-nature” projects in the park.
When Highland Lake golf course was ready to go out of business, the Village of Flat Rock stepped up to acquire the 66-acre property. Three years later, more than 1,500 trees have been planted, 20 bird boxes installed, three owl boxes put up, a honey bee hive is in place, and over 4,000 sq. feet of pollinator gardens have been planted.

Kids’ Yoga Series – Beginning Wednesday, February 7th at 4:30pm, Veda Studios will host a four-week Yoga series for kids ages 5-9. Children will practice mindfulness through movement guided by an intuitive and gentle instructor, Greta Lee Camp, who has extensive experience working with young ones. We hope you and yours will join us!
FREE sessions for parents/guardians during the Kids’ Yoga classes: Mindful Parenting, a gathering focused on reducing stresses often associated with the job of caring for children.

At SonRise National Park they will discover Jesus provides what they truly need in every challenge of life.
As kids participate in fun-filled activities, they will be pointed directly to Jesus! We will have a great time with lively songs, hilarious skits, creative crafts, exciting games, Bible stories and tasty snacks—all of the things that make Vacation Bible School so much fun!
Closing Celebration Party Friday, July 29th @ 8:00pm : Children will sing songs and you will get a taste of what your child has learned throughout the week. Then we’ll head outside for a time of roasting marshmallows and eating Smore’s! You won’t want to miss it!!

In this class we cover all of the different types baby carriers, offer the pros and cons and try to help you determine which one might be “the one” for you. We also offer instruction on safe babywearing practices and techniques that can be used across all types and styles of carriers. This is a free class, however space is limited to 5 couples to ensure everyone has ample opportunity for one on one instruction. Are you interested in learning how to use a woven wrap but don’t know where to start? Lyndsi Devito, Trained Babywearing Consultant, is really excited to offer this new class. She will go over all the basics to help you get started wrapping your baby. This style carrier is perfect for newborns through toddlerhood and can be worn on the front, back, and hip. During this class you will learn what size wrap will work best for your needs. Lyndsi will also teach a few front and hip carry techniques to help you get started on your wrapping journey.
