B-Fest Teen Book Festival

Come join us as we celebrate our first ever Teen Book Festival. We’ll be hosting one well known young adult author per day. Come meet Alexandra Duncan, Megan Shepherd, and Alan Gratz. We’ll also have ongoing rounds of trivia and games for teens as well as give-a-ways!

Future Writers! Turn in the first chapter of your novel or a complete short story by 10:00PM on June 10, 2016 (no fanfiction, no plagiarism). The winner, named at our June 13 B-Creative Workshop, will receive one autographed copy each of Code of Honor by Alan Gratz, The Hunt by Megan Shepherd, and Salvage by Alexandra Duncan!

Catawba Falls Hike

Join us for a moderate 3 mile roundtrip hike to Catawba Falls. We will meet in the parking area for the hike up then spend time wading in the cool water and having lunch before heading back down. The trail is not stroller friendly so non-walking kids will need carriers. Wear shoes that can get wet as there are creek crossings along the trail (careful of slippery rocks!). A change of clothes is recommended if your kid likes to get wet.

VBS GOES ON THE ROAD….

Join us at one of our locations for an amazing Backyard Kids Club* adventure discovering the incredible mysteries of the final frontier- right from your backyard! Grab your telescope and head to your clubhouse observatory where endless discoveries await!  Your telescope becomes a portal through which you encounter unusual and beautiful things designed by our  Creator who is even bigger than the vastness of His creations. *Backyard Kids Clubs are smaller versions of Vacation Bible School that is at a location other than our campus and a way to take Christ into the neighborhoods, bringing a life-changing message to children and their families.

WHY is VBS going on the road?

Lake Hills Church is growing and expanding!  We are under construction, adding new Children’s’ Ministry space and expanding our Worship Center- getting ready for YOU to visit!  Due to our Candler Campus being under heavy construction over the summer months, we will be taking VBS out into our community this summer! We want to be sure we offer a fun- filled spiritual adventure while maintaining the highest levels of safety!  Therefore, we encourage each to join us in this new endeavor as we continue to offer VBS  to our community but in a whole new way!  Backyard Kids Clubs (BKC’s) takes VBS into our homes, neighborhoods, and communities sharing Christ with our friends and neighbors. It offers everything VBS does: Crafts, Games, Recreation, Snacks, Bible Study and Music. Plus, it is lots and lots of fun!

Laura E. Corn Mini Golf Course: 18 hole, ADA-accessible mini golf course includes challenging holes, a water fall, and themed features highlighting local historical and tourist attractions in Hendersonville, Henderson County and surrounding communities. The City of Hendersonville offers the community an 18-hole Mini Golf Course at Edwards Park named after longtime mini golf staff member and community treasure, Laura E. Corn. 

The course is ADA-accessible (ADA accessible holes are #1 – #9 and #18).

Picnic Series Kickoff Party

Join us at Sweeten Creek Brewing for our Picnic Series kickoff party on June 4th. End your beer week with this family and dog friendly celebration on the spacious and relaxing creekside lawn at Sweeten Creek Brewing. This will be the first of many Saturday Picnics throughout the summer of 2016! Free live local music from two area bands with picnic style food specials and our normal sandwich shop menu items for sale on the lawn. Enjoy a Sweeten Creek Brewing Pint while playing yard games and listening to live music. We will be open from 11:30am-9:00pm with live music from 2-8pm.

Summer Reading Triathlon Opening Ceremony

From May 17 to September 6, kids in grades 1 through 6 can earn a free book at their local Barnes & Noble! Join us for the Summer Reading Triathlon Opening Ceremony on June 4 at 11:00AM. Kids can get their journals for a free book, enjoy fun-filled activities and cast a ballot for their favorite book hero and place to win a Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal.
