Enjoy live performances by the 100th Army Band and the Mission Accomplished Band, cheer on the always-epic Ultimate Air Dogs, and stick around for a fireworks show that will blow you away—literally and figuratively. Dust off your red, white, and blue, and get ready to party on the Slope!

Great Beginnings & Great Smiles Girls on the Run of WNC 5K
Chase your dreams and celebrate all girls being joyful, healthy, and confident at the Great Beginnings & Great Smiles Girls on the Run 5K.
The Asheville and WNC community is encouraged to join 500+ girls in 3rd through 8th grade from counties throughout Western North Carolina who have trained with volunteer coaches at 35 sites for the past 10 weeks as part of the Girls on the Run International program. The program combines running with lessons about important topics such as preventing bullying and processing emotions.
The 5K is a family-friendly event open to the public – all are welcome to join. New! We are chip-timing the run this year! Runners and walkers of all ages and levels are encouraged to register.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Girls on the Run of Western North Carolina scholarship fund, which aims to make the non-profit’s program accessible to all girls in the community, regardless of their ability to pay the registration fee.
Registration is $30 online. Registration will also be open on 5K day at the Asheville Outlets starting at 9:00 am. Strollers are welcome. Pets are not allowed at the event for safety reasons.

Southern Highland Clay Fest
For over 20 years, June has been a highlight for the ceramic community of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Hosting a six-hour event filled with slip, flames and sweat, members and guests demonstrate their skill set behind the wheel or over a kiln, alongside the precision and patience of surface design and hand building. In conjunction with the free opportunities of experiential learning from master artisans, Southern Highland Clay Fest has a new expanded element of booths filled with the charm and beauty of potters’ goods.
Located at the Guild’s headquarters, the Folk Art Center, visitors are invited to participate from 10am – 4pm in various activities. For the serious shoppers and collectors, the hill behind the Center’s auditorium will hold booths with Guild members and invited guests from outside of the region. Ceramic wares of both decoration and function will be available for purchase.
The Southern Highland Craft Guild offers this free event to the public to further educate about the region’s fine makers.
