May Day Celebration & Farmstead Open House

Children young and old are invited to the Farmstead for a celebration of spring growth, community building and nature education. We invite you to explore our beautiful 20 acre property, plant seedlings in the garden, build your own wings, dance to local music, eat wholesome snacks, and wind the May Pole.

The event is free to attend, and we will be accepting donations to improve our school and camp programs. You can also buy raffle tickets to support our camp and school programs for $1 each.

May Day Events Schedule

2:30 pm: May Pole dancing

4:00 pm: Fairy house & fort building

Most activities will be available all day long including those not listed here – live music, nature art, felt garland creation, and rock mancala. During the times above, educators will be available to lead those who want more structure.

Spring Fling and Family Disc Jam

Spring Fling and Family Disc Jam will take place at the Pisgah Brewing Company on April 16, 2016 from 12:00pm-6:00pm. The day will include a Pro-Am and Parent-Child Disc Golf Tournament, Live Music & Dance Performances, Food & Drinks, Family Fun Booths and a Shop Local Basket silent auction. Free Admission. Hosted by Swannanoa Valley Montessori School.

The SVMS Family Disc Jam will consist of a Parent/Child Disc Golf Tournament to be held on the 9-hole course at Pisgah Brewing with multiple rounds, entertainment and activities for kids and parents alike throughout the day, and will end with an adult Pro-Am tournament in the evening. Teams will consist of 2 players per team, and registration is $20 per team and will go to benefit the Swannanoa Valley Montessori School.

The event will open its doors at 12pm for registration for the Parent/Child tournament as well as the Pro-Am tournament. Early registration is available online http://www.pisgahbrewing.com/shows/svms-family-disc-jam/

Mama Mia! Festival

The TDA, Madison County Arts Council and The Downtown Marshall Association are hosting Mama Mia 2016! Come to Downtown Marshall and celebrate your Mom! The Jeff Thompson Trio will be performing on our historic court house steps at 1 pm. The Arts Council will be hosting a seconds sale where you can purchase art work, from a local artist, for your Mama. There will be fun throughout downtown with business specials and celebrations.

Campapalooza 2018

Spring camping season gets an early start with a preview of 2018’s best reviewed gear from international innovators as well as local favorites. Free hourly workshops on topics from festival camping to choosing the right backpack for a thru hike to getting started to hiking are joined by giveaways and the presentation of grants to local environmental nonprofits.

West Asheville Art Walk

The second West Asheville Art Walk will host around 50 local artists, with varying mediums, who will set up their work in participating businesses along Haywood Rd. This gives you access to meet these local artists and purchase their art!

This event is completely free for artists as well as attendees!

Earth Fare 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

Earth Fare welcomes runners for this fast and fun race at Asheville’s Carrier Park.  You know if Earth Fare is involved there will be good food and the prizes are some of the best around.

Join us for the 4th Annual Earth Fare 5K at Carrier Park in West Asheville! The course winds through the park along the French Broad Greenway.

If a 5K isn’t quite your speed, you can participate in the 1 Mile Fun Run which begins at 8:30am.
