SciGirls program (girls aged 9-14yrs)

PARI SciGirls programs target girls ages 9-14 and are designed to change how girls think about science by engaging them with fun, hands-on projects.  Monthly programs on a variety of topics are scheduled on varying Tuesdays during the school year at PARI or at the 4H Office in the Community Services Building in downtown Brevard, NC.

Each month’s program will lead young girls to try a different facet of science and bring real connections to that field for their pursuit beyond the monthly program.  Local, statewide, national and international opportunities to explore science will be shared.  Connections to a national PBS website celebrating girls’ explorations in science will also be emphasized each month.

Program registration is requested and a fee of $10 is required.  This fee is non-refundable.  Confirmation of payment of the fee holds the girl’s spot in our program.

PARI requires that an adult accompany all children while on PARI’s campus.  Please plan to enjoy the program with this in mind.

Programs run during the school year (September – May) and are typically scheduled the last Tuesday of the month.

Start Times by Age Group:
  •  Ages 3 & Under: 12:00 PM
  •  Ages 4-5: 12:20 PM
  •  Ages 6-7: 12:40 PM
  •  Ages 8-9: 1:00 PM
  •  Ages 10-11: 1:20 PM
Pre-registration is REQUIRED! Registration opens March 12th for Fletcher residents and March 13th for nonresidents.

Public Star Gaze

“The backup night for the event is Saturday, February 13th. While the star gaze is free and open to the general public, pre-registration is required to attend.

There is no public parking at the observatory, but shuttles are available to and from the observatory from parking lot P10 (the Reuter Center)  on the north (top) end of this campus map.

Sunset occurs at 6:09 p.m., with shuttle service beginning at 6:30 p.m.”

“How to Communicate With Your Teen About Sex and Healthy Relationships is a workshop that is geared to help parents and/or caregivers discover how to be an ‘askable’ parent by building comfort, confidence, and knowledge. It is very important for a parent/caregiver to be askable. What a parent says and what a parent does mattters to teens. Throughout this workshop you will receive the tools to be a successful Askable Parent for your teen!”

African Dance Class
