Asheville Mardi Gras Parade 2023

We love and respect our community, and Asheville is not Bourbon Street. Alcohol and nudity are not part of our twist on Mardi Gras in the Asheville Mardi Gras Parade in downtown Asheville’s South Slope. Parade participants will line up along Southside Ave. between 1:00pm and 2:00pm on parade day. The parade will then step off at its traditional time of 3:05pm and officially begin when it hits the corner of Southside and Coxe Ave. The parade will then continue north on Coxe, turn right on Buxton, left on S. Lexington, and left on Church St. briefly before turning left on Banks and then left on Coxe again. The parade will head south on Coxe and finish up back at the intersection with Southside Ave.

It’s their 16th annual official parade and the theme is: Out Of This World!

“We love and respect our community, and Asheville is not Bourbon Street. Alcohol and nudity are not part of our twist on Mardi Gras in the mountains. We are promoting a fun, safe event for all ages – with a definite emphasis on FUN!”

QUEENS BALL!
The Queens Ball will be held at the Funkatorium after the parade from 6:00pm-10:00pm. The event will feature live music and a cash bar and is 100% FREE OF CHARGE!

Crimes of the Heart stage production (PG-13)

“Warm-hearted, irreverent, zany and brilliantly imaginative, this play examines the plight of three young Mississippi sisters who reunite after the youngest has just shot her husband. Each sister, different in her own right, struggles with the unfamiliarity of being back together again. The play is the story of how these young characters escape the past to seize the future – with a telling that is true, touching, and consistently hilarious.

Crimes of the Heart contains adult material. Asheville Community Theatre gives the show a movie rating of PG-13.

Adult Language : A word that some may consider blasphemous is used once.

Violence: One character shot her husband in the stomach. This is described and referred to, but it does not happen on stage. Suicide is discussed and attempted.

Drugs/Alcohol: Bourbon is consumed.

Sexual References: One character refers to having an extramarital affair.”

The Man Who Came to Dinner stage production (PG)

“Snooty critic Sheridan Whiteside is invited to dinner at the home of the Stanleys, where he slips on their doorstep and breaks his hip. Six weeks later, the Stanley household is still monopolized by the cranky and demanding invalid who insults the family, runs up a $784 phone bill, and receives strange gifts from his friends (penguins! cockroaches! an octopus!) – all of which cause further chaos.

Some material in The Man Who Came to Dinner may contain some material parents might not like for their young children. Asheville Community Theatre gives the show a movie rating of PG – Parental Guidance Suggested.”
