Come join us for our annual Holiday Movie Night at the Historic Courthouse! This year we are excited to show the movie Elf on the projector in the Commissioner’s Board Room. The event starts at 3:30 outside in front of the courthouse. There will be free hot cocoa, games, a bounce house and the opportunity to take pictures with Santa. Buddy the Elf and Jovie will also be in attendance so be ready to smile, smiling’s our favorite! After the outdoor festivities, we will head inside at 6:30 to warm up, have popcorn, and watch a short holiday film before the main feature. So don’t be a cotton-headed ninny muggings, come out and spread Christmas cheer and share this evening with your Parks and Recreation family. Call our office with any questions 828-697-4884.

Spend time with Santa while dining on a special holiday brunch. Don’t forget to bring your list and get a few pictures! This event is open to the public. Reservations are required. Reserve anytime between 9am and 12pm on Sunday.
Support local artisans in a traditional holiday craft market. Our pioneer village around the pond is transformed into a Christmas village complete with candle making, blacksmithing, wreaths for sale, llamas, and toasty fires. Come wander the village with your family to get in the holiday spirit or pick up a few gifts for your list. Children will enjoy making candles and ornaments at our blacksmith shop.
When you’re done with your shopping, head on up to the lodge for a cup of mulled wine or hot chocolate and take a look at our shop!

This year’s “A Christmas Carol” will be decidedly different, but three times the fun! This year, a group of young actors at Montford Park Players, have decided to get together to rewrite the classic story for this years production. But no one on can seem to agree on how it should be done. Is Scrooge perhaps a Super villain battling the hero Bob Cratchit for Christmas domination, like in that one movie? Or maybe Scrooge it just an innocent victim on Jacob Marleys nefarious plans, like that other movie. Maybe the Ghost of Christmas Present is really just Santa clause taking a break, like in that one Christmas special…… This years Christmas Carol will take us on a journey through the imagination of youth, film and storytelling like you’ve never seen it, while still tell the classic heartwarming tale we all know and love. Created and written by our beloved Moppets themselves, this show is going to put a smile on your face that will last all the way through New Year’s Eve.
This show is presented outdoors, so please dress WARMLY!
