The African Children’s Choir in Concert!

Join the African Children’s Choir as they perform in your community during their North American Tour. Come and experience a uniquely immersive performance that shows the beauty, dignity and potential of each African child! Admission will be free for all ages; a free-will offering will follow the Choir’s concert.

The African Children’s Choir melts the hearts of audiences with their charming smiles, beautiful voices and lively African songs and dances. Their completely redesigned live show combines traditional hymns with African cultural sounds and a stunning visual story of God’s faithfulness. Nearly every performance is concluded with a thunderous standing ovation! In spite of the tragedy that has marred their young lives, the children are radiant with hope, musically gifted and always wonderfully entertaining.

The free-will offering will help support the educational programs of Music for Life. The African Children’s Choir has been Music for Life’s major international program during its 30-year history. Music for Life has relief and development programs in seven African countries and they have currently educated over 52,000 children and hundreds of thousands of lives have been impacted by their international relief and development programs.

Family Fun: An Evening with Dëfective Swing

Defective Swing is a group of 12-15 year olds that formed in 2016. They play a wide range of popular songs from vintage to modern. They are part of the Outreach Ensemble program at Asheville Music School and have played at the Veterans Restoration Quarters, Block off Biltmore, Grey Eagle, and the Loft at Asheville Music School.

Kid Yoga & Movement Storytelling – Wortham Classes & Workshops (4-6yrs)

Miranda Watson’s playful, educational, and engaging class weaves in animal, nature, and humanity-themed yoga postures with storytelling. Each week she brings a book or tells a story with which the kids act out as the story unfolds. Using movement is a form of hands-on learning that enhances children’s literary experience and comprehension of the story as well as encourages self and body awareness and creative and imaginative exploration of their bodies moving through space.

Each class explores music, cooperative games, partner yoga, social and emotional skills building, mindfulness activities, and breathing and relaxation techniques. Miranda’s class will help develop an appreciation for stories, a healthy body, a loving heart, and a calm, focused mind.

Recommended for ages 4-6. Please bring a yoga mat.

Miranda Watson has worked with young children for most of her life, beginning with teaching ballet and creative movement to preschoolers while in high school as a member of a dance company. She has worked professionally in the field of education for 25 years and has taught preschool children since 2002, the same time she began practicing yoga. She is a mom of two children, has a master’s degree in education, and is a certified yoga instructor.

AutoStar Jeep Invasion

AutoStar CDJR of Hendersonville is throwing a Jeep Invasion! Come join us and Kiss country, for food, Carolina Axe Throwing, Wheel City, Hendersonville Jeep Club, a raffle (giving away free tanks of gas, oil changes, high lift jack, etc.). During the invasion make sure to bring your old coat as we will be collecting winter coats for the homeless children in Henderson County (K-12th) all donations will give given to Only Hope WNC!

Royal Tea

In celebration of the opening of the Downton Abbey exhibit at the Biltmore house, we will host a traditional afternoon tea service. Indulge in a bit of “Royal Tea”, Sunday November 10 at 2pm. In celebration of the opening of the Downton Abbey exhibit at Biltmore, Battery Park Book Exchange will host a traditional afternoon tea service. Enjoy a variety of loose leaf teas along with a selection of finger sandwiches, baked scones, clotted cream, fresh fruit and pastries. A glass of champagne will be poured for an extra sparkle.

—>  It is an afternoon tea so pretty mild. There will be champagne and mimosas served, but we think well behaved young ladies would enjoy and we can substitute a mock mimosa for them. Just let us know when you reserve.

The Holiday Season is not just for over indulging on fruit cake, rugelach and egg nog. It’s about capturing special moments with your loved ones. It’s about celebrating the things in life that we are grateful for and appreciating those around us. It’s about PICTURES!!!

Whether you are sending holiday cards or not, you NEED to document yourself and those you hold dear. How can you do that? By coming to our FIRST ANNUAL PHOTO FUNDRAISER and picking which theme fits you best. We have a great theme picked for this year to begin your adventure. And just in case you’re really wanting just a nice traditional portrait, we have a place for you as well!

1) Wacky Wonderland – This is an all encompassing place to let your freak flag fly. Matching Pajamas, Ugly Sweaters, crazy themed hats, twinkle lights gone wrong, and anything else your holiday creative brain can come up with. The background will be neutral so it can fit with anything, and there will be some add in props like wrapped presents, a tree, stockings, etc, if you want them. Feel free to bring your own props as well!

2) Traditional Portrait- If you’re not into wacky outfits, don’t really want to start thrift shopping, but still want a nice portrait of you and/or your friends and family, than this is the place for you. A simple solid background will be used so there’s no indication that crazy things are afoot just around the corner. And since it’s a plain background it’s perfect to capture the moment even if you’re not using it for holiday cards.

So you want to be a part of it?? What do you do now? EASY! Show up on the scheduled day dressed however you like, pay your $45 or $65 with cash or check, paypal or venmo, and wait to be called for your fabulous portrait moment. REMEMBER TO MAKE PLANS FOR BRINGING CASH OR CHECK, or set up your online payment accounts early. HALF OF ALL PROCEEDS GO TO SUPPORT ACT! It is first come first served, but please do indicate what time you will be arriving in the form below so we can plan accordingly for extra busy times. It won’t take long at all to get you in and out. You will then receive your fully edited, high resolution image(s) via email approx. 2 weeks later. Please read all the important info below to answer all our questions and make your experience amazing.
