Bring the whole family and join us on Halloween for a monster good time! There will be rows of trunks decorated for trick-or-treating, games for children of all ages and free hot dogs for anyone in costume. Should you decide not to wear a costume, hot dogs will be on sale for $1.00 ea. Kyle will be spinning the tunes as our Scary-oke DJ! Community event all guests welcome!

1st Annual Downtown Marshall Oktoberfest
Crisp days and changing leaves will be celebrated on Saturday, October 19 at the First Annual Oktoberfest. Fall activities will take place on Blannahassett Island from 2pm-5pm and include kid friendly activities like hay rides, apple bobbing, pumpkin painting, a bike obstacle course, sack races, live entertainment and many more fun activities and crafts.
Vanden Landers, the Yodelin’ Country Bluesman will play from 2-3pm with a yodeling contest from 3-3:15pm. Start practicing now, because Vaden is really good!! A live Polka Band will get your blood flowing and your feet stomping from 3:30-5pm.
The fun moves into town (along with the Polka Band) with German style food being offered at The Sweet Monkey Café and The Star Diner.
Mad Co. Brew House will debut a special Oktoberfest brew.
The Main Street Cafe will have a full menu along with Corn Hole on the patio.

WNC Foster & Adoptive Parent Conference 2019
Join us on November 16th for the 2019 WNC Foster & Adoptive Parent Conference. Hosted by Mountain Area Health Education Center, in conjunction with Crossnore School & Children’s Home Fostering Communities, and the YMCA of Western NC.
Crossnore is pleased to invited any and all foster & adoptive parents to join us for our Growth & Renewal conference. This one day conference will be an opportunity for foster and adoptive parents across western NC to be poured into and re-equipped for the challenging and unique roles you play in our community.
Speakers are Shenandoah Chefalo, former foster youth and author of award winning memoir Garbage Bag Suitcase, Pete Smith, Adoption Excellence Award winning foster father, Judge Emily Cowan, former GAL Attorney and Assistant District Attorney, Dr. Nick Ladd, and Dr. Sheritta Carmichael. There will be several breakout sessions to choose from.
Cost is $15, which includes lunch and refreshments. Continuing Education Certificates provided. Child care will be provided at a cost of $15 for 1 child, $20 for 2 children, $25 for 3 or more children.
