Celebrate Fall at FENCE festival
Mark your calendars for the annual Celebrate Fall at FENCE festival at The Foothills Equestrian Nature Center on Sunday, October 13th from 12pm-4pm. This family friendly event will include fun activities for all ages as well as free food! Activities include live music with Letters to Abigail, the PacJAM students, and Angela Easterling & Brandon Turner, live animal encounters, face painting, nature activities, a puppet show, art demonstrations, and much more. This event is made possible by the Kirby Endowment at Polk County Community Foundation. As one of the FENCE founding Fathers, Dave Kirby, used to say “If you love the outdoors, come love it at FENCE!” We hope you and your family can join us on this fun day as we celebrate all there is to enjoy about nature.

BOY SCOUTS/CUB SCOUTS FUND-RAISER BBQ DINNER
Scoutmasters will serve as BBQ pit masters as they work through the night to smoke North Carolina raised Smithfield pork shoulders for 12 hours.
Dinners include a generous portion of BBQ pork, homemade BBQ sauce, baked beans, BBQ slaw, rolls, and non-alcoholic drinks. An All Beef hot dog meal is $4.00 and homemade cakes, pies and desserts are only $1.00 per serving. Take out dinners are available.

Pumpkin Carving Party
It’s almost Halloween and it’s time to carve those jack-o-lanterns! Come make a pumpkin gut mess at Mica Town and leave with a beautifully carved jack-o-lantern. We’ll provide pumpkins, basic tools, stencils, and a ton of fun. All you need to bring is a festive spirit, some creativity, and any tools that you can’t carve without. Cost is $10. Please sign up to ensure there are enough materials.

Saturday Paint Day: Ages 9+
This class will be a HOOT. In this one-time, special class, students will create a painting of an owl and background, using acrylic paint on canvas. Students will use references of photographs of real owls, and we will discuss how other artists have created whimsical and stylized owls. Students will be guided through the process of creating a colorful and aesthetically pleasing owl painting that is original just like them.
