Asheville Community Theatre Tickets FACEBOOK GIVEAWAY CONTEST

GIVEAWAY TIME! ‍‍

Family Friendly Asheville has been gifted 4 Tickets EACH to give away to 2 LUCKY WINNERS, to the stage production of of ‘A Year with Frog and Toad, KIDS’ at Asheville Community Theatre. Three performances will be held on the ACT Mainstage, and you can choose which performance best fits your schedule. The performance schedule is March 15th at 7:30pm and March 16th & 17th at 2:30pm. “This whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog, and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. Throughout the year, two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special.” Kids performing for kids!

Deadline to enter is 6:00pm on March 8th. Good luck!

Winner will be chosen at random, and will be announced March 8th after 6:00pm on the Family Friendly Asheville Facebook page.

Girl Scout Week Kickoff

Girl Scouts will hold their 2019 Girl Scout Week Kickoff event on Sunday, March 10 from 1-3 p.m. at Asheville Outlets.

Girl Scouts, volunteers, families and community members, including prospective Girl Scout families, are invited to celebrate Girl Scout Week, a time of celebrating Girl Scout’s birthday, where activities will be hosted by participating Asheville Outlets retailers.

Some activities to be offered include: learning how to tie knots, how to market apparel and footwear items, food preparation and outdoor skill-building. Other activities that will be offered include: our on-site Girl Scout Shop, games, crafts, a display of Girl Scout uniforms from over the last 70 years and a final celebration of birthday cake at 3:00 p.m. Stay tuned to this page for a full listing of retailers’ activities. Please pick-up your scavenger hunt map at the Food Court upon arrival at the event.

Girl Scouts is open to girls ages 5-18 in grades kindergarten through 12th grade. Western North Carolina is home to over 100 Girl Scout troops and is part of the Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont council. Lunar Palooza with Allan Wolf

Join us for an afternoon of hands-on fun with science and poetry at The Hop Ice Cream Cafe on Merrimon Avenue.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing (July 20, 1969) Asheville author Allan Wolf presents his out-of-this-world book of space poems “The Day the Universe Exploded My Head: Poems to Take You Into Space and Back Again,” published by Candlewick Press and beautifully illustrated by Anna Raff.

Evening event: ‘What Goes HOP in the Night!’

Join us for a fun, family-friendly “HOPportunity” as we discover which amphibians are more active at night, while also enjoying tasty treats and local brews. Participants will listen and learn how to identify frogs by their nocturnal sounds, as well as see live animal demonstrations with different frog and salamander species. Take a guided evening hike to hear gray tree frogs and other species. Come celebrate the final weekend of the Arboretum’s special In the Dark exhibit.

Attendance is free; however, online registration is required and standard non-member parking fees apply. A suggested five-dollar donation is welcomed and will help support The North Carolina Arboretum Society. Children are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult during all activities; participants must be 21 or older with a valid I.D. to purchase alcohol.

Participants in the Arboretum’s ecoEXPLORE program will earn five bonus points for attending this event.

Semester of Science for Homeschool and Unschoolers

Perfect for elementary aged learners, our signature Semester of Science at AMOS is a four class series that meets for an hour and a half every month (Wednesdays in Spring).

We will cover all the basics in this four part series:
⭐️ Learn how to identify night constellations after entering our blow up planetarium.
⭐️ Discover what rocks are made of and how crystals grow.
⭐️ Understand the world of matter and energy by tinkering with sound and light.
⭐️Then get your maker skills on in our signature engineering lessons for the young inventor in your family!

Spots are limited to 10 participants per semester in effort to keep a small teacher-to-student ratio.

Classes will meet on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 10:30 PM. The semester consists of four classes, February through May, for a package price of $40.

Recommended for ages 6-8. Please adhere to the age recommendations for best curriculum and social experience for all.
