40th Anniversary Concert

The Asheville Community Band opens our 2019-2020 season with something very special: our 40th Anniversary Celebration Concert! That’s right, 40 years of community-based musical excellence, serving players and listeners in the Asheville area!

The Asheville Community Band is a community-based symphonic winds band for musicians of all ages and professions. Now composed of over ninety musicians (with more than a dozen new players in Fall 2019!), the band truly represents Western North Carolina with members representing six counties. The all-volunteer band ranges in age from high school to octogenarian. Our 40th Anniversary Celebration Concert will celebrate three things: Great conductors, great music, and great community-based musicianship. Tickets are $12, students and children with paying adults are free.

FALL FESTIVAL AT THE RIDGE

Come out, bring the kids and have some good fall fun!! We will be having Face Painting, Apple Cider and Fresh Popped Popcorn, Pumpkin Lollipop Pull, Pumpkin Painting and Trick or Treating!!  We may have a couple more surprises! (make sure the kids wear their costumes too)

Fall Themed Needle Felting with Karen Kennedy

On Friday, October 19, Asheville fiber artist Karen Kennedy, a graduate of Haywood Community College’s Professional Crafts Program, will demonstrate needle felting using locally dyed wool to create fall pumpkins and leaves. Pre-made versions will be available to purchase, a perfect addition to your Halloween and Thanksgiving décor.

Free-Throw Fundraiser

Free throw contest @ Fat Cats Billiards Nov, 17th 2018 starting at 2:00pm sponsored by Fats Cats.

$20 entry fee for ages 16 and up – winner gets $200
$10 entry fee for ages 15 and under – winner gets $100.

Pick a pumpkin at Grandad’s Pumpkin Patch.  We have all sizes and shapes, including extra large and baby pumpkins to choose from! We grow up to 5 acres of pumpkins each year!

SUMC Annual Fall Festival

May the Force be with You! Come and celebrate fall with a Star Wars themed Fall Festival! There will be games, a hayride, cake walk, music, and more! Halloween (or Star Wars!) costumes are encouraged, but please leave those bloody, scary, and gory costumes at home.
