Pisgah Nights: Nocturnal Animals with the WNC Nature Center

We are excited to welcome the WNC Nature Center to our campus for a special presentation!

Tori will present an informative, hands-on presentation “Nocturnal Animals” that will allow guests to interact with live, nocturnal creatures during the discussion!

The PISGAH NIGHTS’ package includes: dinner, planetarium programming, and tours through the Learning Center’s NASA artifact and gemstone/meteorite galleries. Weather permitting, the evening will conclude with a trip to the Sky Deck, where Learning Center educators and volunteers will point out the constellations and use their telescopes to view the night sky. For additional information, and to register, please contact the Learning Center at PARI!

The Flat Rock Playhouse Garden Plant Sale

Sept 21st Friday 9.00am -4pm
Sept 22th – Saturday 9.00am -1pm
The volunteers responsible for the creation, design and maintenance of The Flat Rock Playhouse gardens, divide the plants once a year and use the money from this sale to enhance the gardens for yet another year of beauty. This year there will be over 60 varieties of plants.
There will also be a Master Gardener ‘Ask- Me- A- Question’ tent, which is the perfect opportunity to seek garden answers for all those questions as well as a tree specialist who will be with us at the beginning of Friday morning till all our questions are answered.
We will also have hand-crafted garden signs, Mason bee-house habitats, Harry Lauder walking stick twigs, everlasting stakes (made out of vinyl albums), seeds and spring flowering bulbs to order including the fabulous allium schubertii.
Of course, it’s also the perfect time to take a walk around the gardens, take a book from the Little Free Library, smile at the recent goats who have been spotted in the gardens and take a photo of yourself with our founder, Robroy Farquhar, the original Vagabond that now stands in the gardens as do his dog, Boots and cat, Snodgrass.
Come support your local North Carolina State Theatre gardens.

Tiny Hands Sign Language Class (6mos-5yrs)

Tuesdays, November 6-December 11, 10-10:45am (Free play until 11:30am)(No class November 20)
For ages 6 months to 5 years with an adult.
Come join us for a signing story time, sing and play and learn to use American Sign Language (ASL) in your home! Each week we will focus on a theme, read a book or two, learn new signs and practice what we’ve already learned. You’ll be better able to understand what your child is thinking about, they will communicate needs to you and everyone will have fun. Using ASL in the home is magical in these early years as children have so many thoughts and desires that they struggle to communicate. Plus the bonus of learning new skills together that strengthens bonds and trust.
