AVL Families Helping Families Reunite!
There is so much love in Asheville. Lets get all that love and support together for a super fun day of art and music and dance and juggling and drag and everything great to raise money to help get these families back together that have been separated at the border. What better way to help bring families back together than spending an afternoon having fun with your own!!!
There will be tons of great performances on stage and activities all afternoon, plus amazing raffle prizes!

Directions To Earth Haven – Write them down (or pre-download map)! No cell service!
From Interstate 40 (east or west): Take exit 73 at Old Fort, heading south on Bat Cave Road for 8.5 miles, and take a left on Camp Elliott Road.
Alternate route from the west: take Hwy. 9 south from Black Mountain for 9.5 miles then left onto Old Fort Road; you will cross a steel bridge. [To find the turn, follow signs for Gateway Mountain, because the Old Fort Road sign is down.] After turning go 3 to 4 miles, and turn right on Camp Elliott Road.
After turning onto Camp Elliott Road: Go about a mile down Camp Elliott Road, past Stone Mountain School. After the school, please reduce your speed to 15 mph. You will come to the end of the pavement, where the road forks, with Full Circle Trail on the right, and Another Way straight ahead through an open metal gate. Proceed through this gate, and you are at Earthaven. The Earthaven speed limit is 10 mph. Cross one bridge and turn right following signs to the camp ground. Stay to the left to arrive at the parking lot. Park and walk down past the parking lot to find the Council Hall building where the dance will be held.

2nd Annual “Pack the Packs” Supply Drive & Outdoor Movie Night
Egolf Ford of Brevard presents their 2nd Annual “Pack the Packs” Supply Drive and Movie Night. We are showing the family favorite:
Despicable Me! The movie will be an outdoor showing on a BIG screen, so bring blankets, lawn chairs and anything comfy for you and your family to sit on!
This year, we are hosting this event to help provide students and educators with the supplies they need to have a successful school year. Thank you to Corey Gravely and Satellite Connection for the use of their resources!
Admission: Please provide a backpack full of NEW school supplies for teachers or students. This will get you and your family into the movie! If you wish to watch the movie without a supply donation, We ask for a $5 donation for an individual. $8 for two or $12 donation for family. There will be popcorn, soda, water and candy for sale where all proceeds go toward Transylvania County School!
Come down at 5:00 PM to mingle with our local vendors that are helping out at our event. There will be Grace Wear Collection, Pink Zebra, Lularoe, Lipsense, Thrive, Grey Dog Crotchet, Paparazzi Jewlery, Tupperware and more setting up their merchandise for sale. They are great contributors to our event!

Hands-on History in July Series
Join Park Rangers on Saturdays in July to get hands-on with history. Each Saturday features a different topic and allows visitors of all ages to interact with history related to the Sandburg family experience at Connemara.
July 7th
Everything’s Butter with Goats
Milk a goat, make butter and a replica container for milk. Find the activities at the barn area.
July 14th
Archives Alive!
investigate objects from the past and the stories they tell. Glimpse the past through a sterograph, analyze artifacts, and play with vintage toys. Activities near the barn area.
July 21st
Books & Banjos
Experience a day in the life of Carl Sandburg. Make and take a personal book, create a comb kazoo and a cigar box banjo. Activities in the garage adjacent to the Sandburg Home.

Creature Feature
Learn about some of the creatures at the park that help pollinate plants through hands-on pollination stations, make a bug button, examine bug parts, and participate in Citizen Science.

If you haven’t already done so, it’s high time to get yourself signed up and tuned up!
The Long Ride will roll from The Parker-Patton House (95 Charlotte St, Asheville) @ 2:30pm.

It includes gravel road climbs and descents…and there will be timed segments! You should plan on ~2.5 hours duration.

After you clean up and change clothes, as we did last year, we will gather at Jim Siemens’ The Patton-Parker House at 6:00pm, where there will be gourmet food provisioned by our sponsors The Chop Shop Butchery & Gan Shan Station. There will again be lively musical entertainment, and lots of camaraderie.
Note: Beverages will be B.Y.O.B.
Everyone is welcomed to hang around for the City of Asheville’s Fourth of July fireworks display starting at 9:30pm. Bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets to sit, relax, socialize.
