Craft City Workshop:

June 1st: Mini-macramé Plant Hangers … Bring a little joy to your day and make your very own mini-macramé plant hanger to hang in your house or office! This workshop will teach you the basic techniques used in macramé, a type of fiber art in which rope is knotted in decorative patterns for functional uses, using a locally made and organic cotton lanyard yarn from Echoview Fiber Mill. Craft kits include all the materials you’ll need: a planter, a succulent, and a washer for easy hanging. Learning these basic macramé knots will allow you to scale up your project in the future using rope to create plant hangers for your home or to give as gifts! Craft kits are just $12 each and include all the materials needed to complete one craft AND a voucher for a fully loaded hotdog (or tempe-dog) from Foothills Local Meats hotdog cart. No pre-registration required. $5 admission (12 & up) without the purchase of a craft kit (includes one hotdog voucher). Free admission for children under 12. Collaborative community projects will be on-site, free and suitable for all ages! Craft City Workshops are sponsored in part by Buchi Kombucha and Asheville Made. The Center for Craft is supported in part by a grant from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

Join us for this quick and fun way to carve and stamp patterns. Each kit will include 2 blank greeting cards, 2 envelopes, carving block, and a stamp pad. We’ll cover design, carving, and stamping. Carve and print your own rubber stamp greeting cards with artist Eleanor Annand.

Aug 3rd: Etched Glasses and Candle Holders … Be a part of the Summer of Glass celebration by designing a glass of your own. Join the North Carolina Glass Center for an evening of craft and design. Take home a small wine glass or candle holder with your own unique design sandblasted into the surface. Each kit includes tape and stickers, used to mask off a pattern. Asheville Urban Odyssey Scavenger Hunt/Race

The Asheville Urban Odyssey is the most fun scavenger hunt you will ever do and a perfect representation of Asheville. Teams of four will leave One World Brewing (10 Patton Ave) every ten minutes beginning at 12 noon and follow a series of clues to both obscure and well known Asheville locations.

At each location, a team member must complete a specific task before receiving their next clue (each team member will need to complete two tasks). After a team completes its eighth task they will make their way back to APB for their final challenge. The completion of the final challenge will constitute the finish time.

The use of smart phones is not only allowed but highly encouraged. Teams can phone a friend or ask passersby for assistance. The only rule is you follow traffic laws along the route.

All members of the winning team will receive a $100 gift certificate to use at either Diamond Brand Outdoors or Frugal Backpacker!

All participants that are 21+ will receive a beer on us, from One World Brewing.
