The Plunge – Freezin for a Reason

8th Annual Plunge Benefit-t-t-ting Kids in the Creek & Environmental Education

Coming “Super Bowl Saturday”, February 1! This year will be at the Champion Credit Union Aquatic Center in Canton, NC!
On-site registration opens at 10 am.

The Plunge is a community event, bringing together citizens, schools, public officials, businesses, churches, and many others to support kids and protecting Haywood County’s waterways.

The cost is $25 ($10 under 18) or FREE by raising sponsorships from your friends, family, co-workers, and businesses; 100% of the proceeds benefit our Kids in the Creek and environmental education programs.

Plungers don’t technically have to “plunge”, a simple dip of the toe is acceptable, though your peers may think otherwise. All Plungers will receive a FREE t-shirt to commemorate their courage and support of clean water.

All ages welcome, though kids will need their parent’s to sign the Waiver Form. Shirt and shoes are mandatory. Costumes are also encouraged and the top three Best Costumes will walk away with fabulous prize packages.

1. Visit “https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/8thannualhwaplunge“. To register click “Join”. GoFundMe Charity will create your own personal page under the Plunge. Then, either “Donate” your $25/$10, or send the personal link to family, friends, and coworkers so they can support your registration ($1, $5, $25, everything counts). The top three Individual, School Team, and Community Team fundraisers will win fabulous prize packages. Plus, any Plunger that raises $100 or more gets a FREE lunch!

2. Request a hard-copy information form at info@haywoodwaterways.org.

3. On-site the day of the event

Base Camp on the Go will bring their truck fully-loaded with outdoor fun for the kids. There will be several food trucks on site. Bonfires will also be raging to help folks warm up as well as indoor changing and eating facilities. Since it is a winter Plunge, the event will happen rain or shine!

We are also seeking event Sponsors!

Blue Ghost Brewing Company is excited to announce The 2018 WNC Natural History Educational Series will occur on the second Tuesday of each month, January-April, beginning at 7PM. 10% if sales these nights will go to the partnering non-profit organizations. The event is free and open to the public. Dates, topics, presenters & organizations benefiting are as follows:

There will be 12 beers on tap, Bold Rock Hard Cider, a red & white wine and a draught non-alcoholic homemade 2-Ditty Root Beer for purchase. Food options will be available as well from Blue Ghost’s own The Hungry Ghost.

Open House Week

Come try an entire FREE WEEK of classes at Blue Ridge Taekwondo, plus SAVE $25, at our special OPEN HOUSE EVENT!!

This is the beginning of our new curriculum/testing cycle, as well as the perfect time to get involved in a healthy, supportive sport!

Come check us out and see what our program is all about, from kids as young as 4 all the way up to adults! Wear comfortable workout clothes and jump right in, meet the instructors and other students, and learn some beginning taekwondo on us!

We pride ourselves on having a fun, friendly environment with a low ratio of students to instructors. We teach traditional Korean taekwondo, including self-defense, with a focus on character development and mental/emotional skills that will last a lifetime.

Little Dragons (ages 4-5): Monday/Wednesday 5:30 pm

Big Dragons (ages 6-7): Tuesday/Thursday 4:45 pm, Sat. 11:00 am

Beginning Kids (ages 8-12): Monday/Wednesday 6:15 pm, Sat. 11:45 am

Adults (and teens 13+): Tuesday/Thursday 7:00 pm, Sat. 10 am OR Teens only on Sat. at 12:30 pm
