Asheville Family Garden Meet-up

This is a place for families and families-to-be to be outside, excericise, play & support each other with the end result being FREE organic food for your family. Storytelling on Church Street

Join us for an evening of folk storytelling by some world renowned folk storytellers.

This event is a part of the 180th Anniversary Celebration for Central UMC.

Admission to the event is free.

Featured Guests:

Connie Regan-Blake is one of America’s most celebrated storytellers. Entertaining audiences in 47 states, 17 countries, 6 continents, Connie brings the wisdom, humor and drama of stories to main stage concert halls, schools, festivals, libraries and into the corporate world. She has performed at the nation’s top folk music and storytelling festivals, including the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington D.C., the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival in Orem, Utah, as well as the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Recently, the Library of Congress granted Connie the honor of an archival collection in her name. Connie resides with her husband Phil in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, NC.

David Joe Miller is an acclaimed storyteller and motivational speaker, David Joe Miller has performed and presented programs all across the country… from schools, libraries and festivals to corporate board rooms and executive retreats. A native of Jonesborough, Tennessee, “The Storytelling Capital of the World,” David Joe is a former employee of the National Storytelling Association. He created the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild in 1994 and has served on the Board of Directors of the National Storytelling Network.

Central UMC’s own Marvin Cole – Marvin was born in the Pole Creek suburb of Candler, North Carolina on August 8, 1932. Graduating from Candler High School in 1950, Marvin attended Mars Hill College for one year and then served four years with the U. S. Air Force. He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degrees from Western Carolina University and a doctorate from Indiana University. He spent 38 years in higher education. Marvin has been interpreting and impersonating the works of Mark Twain for forty years, performing in over 20 states and on the riverboats on the Mississippi River.

Beat the Winter Blues BINGO

Beat the Winter Blues with a fun night of BINGO! There will be cash and door prizes for each game! Concessions available.
