Please mark your calendar and join us for the dedication of the new Little Free Library at Dana Community Park:
Monday, March 12 at 4:00 pm.
Little Free Libraries are a global phenomenon. The small book exchanges number 60,000 around the world in 80 countries from Tasmania to Pakistan. A new Little Free Library has been installed at Dana Community Park. The library is a collaborative effort between Girl Scout Berit Raines of Troop 1901 and the Dana Wildcats 4-H Club. Tim Hopkin of Henderson County Parks & Recreation facilitated the collaboration. Ms. Raines built the library housing as her Silver Award project, and the Dana Wildcats will maintain and stock the library as an ongoing community service project. The library features books for all ages, including a Spanish language children’s section.
Girl Scout Troop 1901 and the Dana Wildcats 4-H club would like to thank the following for their generous donations and support to bring this project to fruition. GBS, Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Pat McAfee, President of the Henderson County Arts Council, Trina Rushing of Henderson County Library, Tim Hopkin of Henderson County Parks and Recreation, Dana Elementary School and the Friends of Dana Community Park.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Monday, March 12, at 4:00 p.m. and is open to the public. The celebration will include book swaps. Refreshments will be provided and served by Dana Elementary School. Attendees are encouraged to bring a used book in good condition to swap or donate.
