Apple Picking

Open Daily, 9:00am-6:00pm

Changes in weather can affect ripening times and demand for certain varities can impact supply. Although we update our picking schedule weekly (and more often if needed), if you are making the trip for a particular variety and are concerned about availability please call the fruit stand to verify. We receive numerous questions on our Facebook page asking if certain varieties are available but due to the volume of questions, we are not able to respond to these individually. .

Drop-In Kung Fu Class (5-7yrs)

Tuesdays, 3:45pm-4:30pm

In this class we work on hand-eye-foot coordination through the different animal styles of Kung Fu. Students learn Animal Hand Shapes, a short form that emphasizes whole body movement, a focused set of movements from the animal style of the month, hitting a target, coordination exercises, awareness exercises, and listening exercises, as well as sitting and standing meditation.
We only have spaces for 12 students, so it is a good idea to reserve a space in advance.

Solar Eclipse Watch Party

Join us on the back deck at Mad Co Brewing on August 21 at 2pm. This summer’s eclipse is a rare event, offering a total eclipse of the sun in 14 states, with the path of totality passing through five Southern states: Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. The total solar eclipse first touches North Carolina at 2:33 p.m. EDT and exits at 2:49 p.m. EDT. We have 50 pairs of the official eclipse glasses available.

Rooftop Eclipse Viewing Party

The rooftop bar is 21+, the Meadow is family friendly.

August 21st is the first date in almost 40 years that a total solar eclipse will be visible – and that is super cool. Even cooler? Asheville is one of the few areas in the United States that will have a 99% eclipse, visible at roughly 2:37pm. The coolest part? You can watch it from our rooftop deck or our grassy meadow with a pint in your hand.

The before and after will be neat to watch as well, so come early, and stay as long as you’d like.

Please try to obtain your own protective eyewear – it is NOT safe to look at the partially eclipsed sun. We will have some on hand in case you forget.

Know Your Rights: Advocacy for Children Attending Public School

***FREE CHILDCARE WILL BE PROVIDED***
Keith Howard, J.D., an expert in special education law, student discipline law, bullying, and other education-law related matters has advocated for children for much of his carreer. He will present, Know Your Rights, an advocacy workshop that provides tools and resources for parent and advocates of children attending public schools. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

The school-to-prison pipeline is real. In these times of little or no tolerance, we need to know how to support parents and advocates working to save children from bleak futures. The atmosphere created by these policies can mean behavior that once got kids sent to the principal‘s office, now mean children are expelled, suspended and sometimes channeled to law enforcement – this is a problem nationwide; black and brown children, in particular, face disparate discipline for similar behavior as white children.

Those interested in a positive future for our children are encouraged to attend this important special programing hosted by Asheville-Buncombe NAACP at Hill Street Baptist Church, 135 Hill Street Avl 28801. FREE CHILDCARE will be provided.
