Join us on a magical adventure down the Yellow Brick Road! Like so many girls her age, little Dorothy Gale of Kansas dreams of what lies over the rainbow. One day a twister hits her farm and carries her away over the rainbow to another world. Come join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion and Toto as they travel the universe of Dorothy’s imagination.
The Academy, Prep Academy and Community students are coming together to present The Wizard of Oz – Young Performers’ Edition at the Diana Wortham Theatre on June 9th at 10th at the Diana Wortham Theatre. This talented group of actors ranging from ages 4-17 will take you through a magical journey.

The Kenilworth Artists Association (KAA) is a neighborhood community of artists in Asheville, North Carolina. Kenilworth is one of Asheville’s oldest neighborhoods with a lovely mix of grand homes, modest bungalows and mature gardens. More than forty aspiring and professional artists live in the five square mile neighborhood just minutes from downtown Asheville. Each year, some of these artists open their doors to the public for a festive tour that attracts shoppers and art lovers alike.
The KAA’s annual self-guided tours are scheduled for every Memorial Day weekend.
June 26th-29th: X-Stream Ecology (2nd-6th Graders) … Explore local water ecosystems and investigate the organisms that inhabit them. Students will travel to local streams and investigate the water and numerous life-forms that call water home.
July 10th-13th: Awesome Anatomy (5th-8th Graders) … Come explore the anatomy of a flower, worm, and frog through hands on dissection. Not for the squeamish! Gloves, aprons, goggles, and tools provided. Reserved for mature, rising 5th – 8th graders.
Aug 7th-10th: Physics of Flight (2nd-6th Graders) … Launch rockets, make and shoot a potato gun, build a small-scale hovercraft and ride on a life-sized one. Experiment with a variety of catapult designs as you explore Newton’s Laws of Motion.
Aug 14th-17th: Crazy Chemistry (2nd-6th Graders) … Chemistry is all around us. In this camp students will investigate matter and its properties through a variety of hands-on laboratory experiments.

What a better place to salvage our Pride after a difficult year for the community. Join us at the Salvage Station for a family-friendly afternoon by the river as we enjoy a little local entertainment for a relaxing summer afternoon. June 24, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Early parking is available for groups wanting to bicycle,paddle,float,run to the Party. The entertainment will begin at 3:30 pm. We will host a brief presentation and discussion at 2:15 pm, About the future of Blue Ridge Pride and the Festival in September, We have been giving it a lot of thought, Now we’d like to know what You think, “Comming Together with Pride for a Purpose”
