KIDS CHOICE PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:

Alphabet Soup – It’s time to sing our ABCs. We will explore the alphabet and make learning fun as we play games, make crafts and have fun with letters. Join us as we go on an adventure from A to Z.

Camp is Coming – Want to know what YMCA summer camp is like? Come and join us for
samples of what to expect. We will talk about our many camp activities and engage in learning through messy play. Please come dressed to get messy.

Cinco de Mayo – Today we will experiment with the taste behind this day as we sample our own salsa. We will move to the music of the culture by creating musical instruments and take a look at the colorful surroundings of Mexico. Join us in comfortable clothes and shoes for free movement.

Color My World – Today we will learn about all the colors around us. We will experiment with mixing and creating new colors through art projects as well as enjoy music and activities focused on all the colors of the rainbow. Please wear your favorite color to class.

Food Art –We will learn about how food is important to various healthy functions of our body and demonstrate this through creativity of art using healthy foods as a reminder of how to stay healthy and strong.

Going to the Zoo – It’s a zoo today at the YMCA! Come and play like the zoo animals this morning. We’ll play games, learn songs, read books, and make fun zoo animal crafts. We’ll end our morning with a “wild” snack.

Happy Valentine’s Day – We will create our own valentines to share with the special people in our lives. After we’re done with our artistic creations, we’ll take time to relax with stories and decorating heart-shaped cookies.

Healthy Kids – Join us for a morning of getting our bodies moving and learning about being healthy through fun activities and good choices. We’ll also create some healthy snacks to enjoy. Please come dressed for movement.

I am Special – We will introduce ways of knowing how we are all unique. Each child will create his/her own scrapbook page to remind them of how special they are.

I Love Mommy – Join us today to talk about why our mothers have such an important role in our lives. Learn how we began to celebrate Mother’s Day and create a special gift to take home to mommy.

Let’s Jump and Read – Our favorite stories come alive as we wiggle and giggle in this fun-filled class. We will learn new songs, do fun movement activities, take a healthy snack break and hear many stories today.

Outer Space Adventures – We are going to blast off in our rockets and head to outer space for an out-of-this world adventure. Our mission will take us visiting planets and learning about the universe in which we live.

Sensory Fun – We’ll use our five senses to explore, discover and create. We’ll play I spy, feel different textures, try to guess smells and sounds and create a treat to tickle our taste buds. Don’t miss this “sense-sational” class.

St. Patty’s Day – We’ll all have a bit of the luck of the Irish as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. It will be a class filled with learning about shamrocks, leprechauns and all things green. Who is ready to join us as we hunt for gold at the end of the rainbow?

Spring is in the Air – Spring has sprung! As we welcome spring, we’ll explore the world around us and learn about flowers, plants, insects and all the new things in the great outdoors that we will start to see this time of year.

Winter Wonderland – Winter is here. It’s time to build an indoor snowman and design some sparkly snowflakes. We’ll also snuggle up and enjoy a few chilly stories. You may bring your favorite blanket to class for snuggling.
