Come join us for our first ever Books with Brett Storytime with crafts, popcorn and a book reading. This week’s theme is dragons.

For crafts we will be coloring dragon, knight and princess pictures. The kiddos will have the choice to hang their artwork on the Jumphouse wall or take them home.

All kids will get a free bag of freshly popped pop-corn.

Around 9:30 the kiddos will gather around and get to hear a story read by Brett. This week Brett will be reading Herb, The Vegetarian Dragon by Jules Bass and Debbie Harter.

The event and popcorn are free. Brett will have books available for sale or ordering.

The inflatables will be down during storytime but will be opening up for General Admission at 10am. General Admission for inflatable play is $6 per child with no charge for adults.

Become a Citizen Scientist ecoEXPLORER!

SCIENTISTS NEED YOUR HELP!
“ecoEXPLORE is an incentive-driven science enrichment program of The North Carolina Arboretum Society that engages K-8th grade students in WNC, in guided and self-directed citizen science activities, that combines science exploration with kid-friendly technology to foster a fun learning environment for children and encourages them to explore the outdoors and become a citizen scientist. Students engage as active participants of the scientific method as they record observations of organisms found in their neighborhoods, libraries and at the Arboretum.” See it, Snap it, Share it! Get out and explore, take photographs of what you find, and then email your observations in to earn points you can use to get Field Tools from GetSpots.
If you would like to solve scientific mysteries, discover new species, or contribute real scientific data to scientists, become an ecoEXPLORER!
Earn prizes and badges, meet and work with real scientists, receive FREE invites to special programs & events at The North Carolina Arboretum, and help scientists study wildlife.

SET OUT ON A KID FRIENDLY TRAIL AND EARN PRIZES! FREE!

If you haven’t heard of Kids in Parks or TRACK Trails yet, you’ve been missing out! TRACK Trails is a trail program that was started here in Asheville (but has since spread across the country!) by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, a network of local Pediatricians, and the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, to “promote children’s health and the health of our parks”, and we have several in our area. Kids in Parks is an ever expanding network of family-friendly, self-guided outdoor adventures, and “include hiking trails, biking trails, geocaching trails, paddling trails, nature trail disc golf courses, and even adventures you can do in your own back yard”. Register your child online, and as they complete the trail, they earn prizes for tracking their adventures! Best of all, it’s all FREE!
