Kith and Kin Play Day

Starting in JULY, Kith and Kin will be at the Marshall library ONLY ON WEDNESDAYS. We will still have our morning session from 10:00-11:30 and afternoon session from 12:30-2:00. Schedules will be available in June. The library will have some wonderful children’s programs this summer so definitely check them out!

The Madison County Play Days are a Smart Start program organized and facilitated by the Madison County Health Department and funded in part by the Madison County Partnership for Children and Families.

The Madison County Play Days are designed to connect families of children from birth through five years of age who do not attend a full time child care program. Through Play Day activites, children socialize with one another and learn while they are playing. New friendships are forged between caregivers, and children find new playmates. Caregivers receive information about child development, community resources, and home safety. Children choose from a large collection of books and take home one free book a month! We have families that have moved to Madison County from all over the country! Come on out and meet your neighbors! Play Days are attended by moms, dads, grandmothers, and other caregivers. Please come join us!

Camp Tikvah (for children with autism) (Rising 1st – 5th Graders)

Rising 1st – 5th Graders; 9:00 am – 3:30 pm

Session 1 (June 19-23)
Session 2 (June 26-30)
Session 3 (July 3- 7) (no camp on July 4)
Session 4 (July 10-14)
Session 5 (July 17-21)
Session 6 (July 24-28)
Session 7 (July 31-August 4)
Session 8 (August 7-11)
Session 9 (August 14-18)

The only summer day camp of its kind in Western North Carolina, Camp Tikvah enables children on the autism spectrum to enjoy the fun and community of Camp Ruach in an individually monitored and highly structured program. Each one-week session runs interwoven with Camp Ruach (9 am -3:30 pm) — and enables these awesome kids to participate in as many peer activities as are individually appropriate.
Specially-trained counselors continuously monitor each camper’s sensory environment to help facilitate communication, socialization, and of course, community and fun. All Camp Tikvah staff complete an intensive training with Camp Tikvah Program Co-Director, Jennifer Lingle, M.Ed., who is also the Director of Autism Consulting and Training, Inc. Camp Tikvah is open to rising 1st graders and up. To ensure it is the right setting for each child, and because space is limited to six campers per session, families must be interviewed prior to registration.

We have a few Tikvah slots available in our Gesher middle school group.

For more information or to arrange an interview, contact Camp Ruach Director Seth Kellam at 828-253-0701 ext. 107, or email seth@jcc-asheville.org.
