Holiday Pop-Up Market

New Foster Parent Training

Have you considered becoming a foster or adoptive parent? Are you curious about what is required to become a foster parent? Do you have friends that you believe will make wonderful foster parents?

Eliada Homes needs more safe and nurturing families to serve the children of Western North Carolina. We will be starting a FREE 10 week training (TIPS-MAPP) for new foster families on Monday, January 9th. The class will meet weekly on Monday evenings through March 13th. In these classes, you will learn about the needs of children in foster care, as well as how to provide hope and healing for them in your home.

• If you are interested in starting this journey with us, call us so we can introduce ourselves.

• If you have only just begun to think about fostering and want more information, please call us. We would be happy to answer your questions.

• If you have friends who would make good parents, encourage them, and send them our way.

Manna Food Bank Benefit Showcase

Please join us for our 6th Annual Manna Benefit Dance Concert! We are proud to continue our partnership with Manna Food Bank. Last years donations were the impetus that started the Asheville High Pantry and this years show will again be providing meals for the homeless students at the school. It’s a beautiful inspiring night of art and generosity. All proceeds go to Manna Food Bank and helping to replenish their food supply after the holidays.

10th Annual Stan Kenton Christmas Concert

The AJO will perform their annual Stan Kenton Christmas Concert at Trinity United Methodist Church (587 Haywood Rd., Asheville, NC) at 7 PM on Friday, December 16. This is a free concert, but a good will offering will be collected to raise money for charity and for the Asheville Jazz Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to jazz performance and education.

Christmas Eve at Central UMC

Friends! Central United Methodist Church, a community for Christ in downtown Asheville invites you to join us in our family friendly Christmas Eve services. We will journey through the birth of Jesus Christ, celebrating with carols and Christmas music and reflecting with candlelight and communion. We will have three services (3pm, 5pm, 11pm) to accommodate your schedule as follows:

Children and Families Service
3:00 pm – Children and youth will lead us in worship and tell the story of the birth of Jesus. Traditional carols and communion will be a part of this service.

Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols
5:00 pm – Prelude to Lessons and Carols service by the Brass Ensemble. Come and enjoy a prelude of Christmas music presented by the Central Brass Ensemble. The prelude begins at 5:00 pm in the Sanctuary.

5:30 pm – This traditional Lessons and Carols service will feature readings from the Scriptures on the Nativity, followed by anthems from the Chancel Choir and congregational carols. Dr. Rob Blackburn will give a meditation and the service will conclude with the lighting of candles and the singing of “Silent Night.”

Candlelight Communion Service
11:00 pm – The Candelight Communion Service takes place in the darkened Sanctuary with candles providing the light. It is a quiet, reflective time of worship. The service ends as Christmas Day begins.
