Asheville Ballet presents: ‘The Nutcracker’

The Asheville Ballet’s Nutcracker has been a holiday tradition in Asheville for almost half a century. Children and adults will be charmed yet again by ballet’s greatest classic. This all-time favorite story of Clara’s magical midnight trip to the Land of Sweets is classical ballet at its best. Snow will fall in the Snow Queen’s kingdom, scary rats will frighten and good soldiers will rescue Clara, the exquisite Sugar Plum Fairy and her handsome Cavalier will dance their eternally lovely pas de deux, and beautiful flowers will waltz, and waltz, and waltz.

Holiday Inn Tour & Cookie Caper

Come Home for the Holidays in Hendersonville!

On Sunday, December 8, 2019, the Hendersonville Historic Preservation Commission will offer a Holiday Inn Tour and Cookie Caper.

On this self-driving tour, you’ll enjoy unique holiday treats while touring five beautifully decorated historic properties: The Waverly Inn, the Charleston Inn, Mill House Lodge, Echo Mountain Inn and the Brightwaters Guesthouse. Ticket purchase includes a brochure that contains a map and a brief history of each property. Inn keepers will offer a different holiday treat to guests as they explore the historic properties.

The tour will take place from 1-4pm and tickets are $20 each. Tickets are available for purchase at the Hendersonville Visitor Information Center, 201 South Main Street, Hendersonville, NC. (828) 693-9708. This event is sponsored by the Hendersonville Historic Preservation Commission in cooperation with the Henderson County Tourism Development Authority.

Join AMOS as we welcome author and illustrator Holly Myers as she signs her new book “Goodnight Asheville” now available in our gift shop!

Explore the museum and our new exhibits as we continue our preperation for our Grand Opening in 2017. Stop by our STEM lab where members of our education team will be providing more information about our Little Explorers Club. Beginning January 13th preschoolers (3-5 year olds) and caregivers will have exclusive access to AMOS from 9-10am for guided activities, free play, and exploration!

Each month AMOS will design the Little Explorers Club activities around a specific theme. January’s theme will be COLORS!

6th Annual Home for the Holidays FUNdraiser

Town and Mountain Realty believes everyone deserves a place to call HOME. We are excited to be hosting the 6th Annual Home for the Holidays FUNdraiser!

Our goals continue to concentrate on the homeless population and those in crisis in our Asheville and WNC community. We are attempting to reach those in immediate need and those who fall through the cracks with government funding. Join us and share the love as we celebrate the season by supporting local non-profits. Your gift will go a long way to help members of our community have a place to call HOME.

We have set our goal to raise $20,000 and we will be matching all donations up to $10,000!

We have chosen 5 local non-profits to work with this year. We feel these five make efforts to help those homeless and in crisis in our community: Homeward Bound of WNC, Helpmate, Caring for Children, Eliada, Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry‘s Transformation Village

*Your Donation is your admission (includes dinner), you choose what you want to give!

All funds will be distributed equally between the 5 local non-profits chosen and will go to help support the homeless and those in crisis in our Western North Carolina community!

Christmas with the Celts

The Celts have been performing around the world for over 15 years and are made up of Irish born and Irish-American musicians. Their spectacular Christmas show is a blend of ancient traditional Irish and Scottish Christmas Carols mixed with American Christmas favorites but performed with Irish instrumentation such as uilleann pipes, whistles, bodhran, fiddle and more. Featuring 6 musicians, plus Irish dancing and narration of Christ’s birth told in the Scottish dialect by Laura McGhee from Dundee, Scotland. Christmas with the Celts is a celebration of traditional and sacred favorites for the entire family.
