Opening Day Celebration

Join us at the Cradle of Forestry as we celebrate opening for the 2025 Season!

  • 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM – Character Meet & Greets
  • 11:00 AM – Book signing and reading with Carolyn Bennett Fraise, the author of “MOON TREE: The Story of One Extraordinary Tree”
  • 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM – Up Close Encounter with Birds of Prey 
    • Jeff Curtis presents an exciting falconry demonstration featuring majestic birds of prey. Get up close to these incredible birds and learn about their role in the ecosystem.
      • Location: Amphitheatre*
  • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM– Fur, Feathers, and Scales
    • The WNC Nature Center brings an exciting educational presentation featuring animals with fur, feathers, and scales. Meet live animals and learn how they adapt to their environments.
      • Location: Amphitheatre*

Guided tours of the Biltmore Campus Trail and Forest Festival Trail will also be available.

*Seating for the amphitheater events is first come, first served. Please arrive early to secure a good spot.

‘Free’ Shop Day

God’s Closet is a non-profit ministry that collects children’s clothing year-round and four times a year they open the doors of their church for a free shop day. No documentation required. Everyone welcome!

There will be no sign ups this time. We will not be sending out an email a week prior to Shop Day. We are having issues with the system that provided the sign up service.

You will still be going in to Shop every 30 minutes. First come, first serve.

Native American Heritage Month Celebration

A day of fun activities, including dance, performance, and free workshops as part of Native American Heritage Month. “We hope that people will come and bring their families to enjoy the day and learn a little more about Cherokee culture,” says Barbara R. Duncan, Education Director at the Museum. “They can meet Cherokee people who know a lot about their traditions, [and] who really enjoy talking with visitors.”
