Asheville e-Sports Minecraft Saturday (8-14yrs)

Wow! Who DOESN’T know a kid who loves Minecraft and a parent worried that he’s missing out on interaction in person with others?

It’s the launch of Asheville e-Sports, brought to you by Tek-Kids. Never heard of e-Sports before? It’s a structured way for young people to use their gaming skills in competition with other people their age. But there’s also plenty of silly, good-natured fun along the way.

We are beginning with a Minecraft event. This event is intended for young people between ages 8 and 14. Children under 8 can participate, but we request that they have an adult on site. We will be playing Minecraft competitively on a closed server (not open to the public). In addition to the competitive games, we will also have some servers dedicated to more relaxed styles of play (creative/survival).

The server will be open the entire time to allow for ad hoc gaming throughout our time there. Periodically we will run more structured competitions. These events will get projected onto the big screen, so even if you’re not playing, you can still get into the action.
PC/Mac or Pocket Edition.

May 27th & 28th @ 7:30pm

Leon Tolchinsky is ecstatic. He’s landed a terrific teaching job in an idyllic Russian hamlet. When he arrives he finds people sweeping dust from the stoops back into their houses and people milking cows upside down to get more cream. The town has been cursed with Chronic Stupidity for 200 years and Leon’s job is to break the curse. No one tells him that if he stays over
24 hours and fails to break the curse, he too becomes Stupid. But, he has fallen in love with a girl so Stupid that she has only recently learned how to sit down.
